I'm sorry, but how can you guys claim that Wii Sports Boxing is playable once you get used to it, if you STILL can't understand how to do uppercuts and hooks!!??
I also think it's a load of crap that you can't punch due to the conditions of your player's animation. If I, a 135-pound wimp, can throw 10 punches quickly, why can't my onscreen character do the same?? The character in the game is supposed to be a real boxer. You're telling me, being a 135 pound dork, it's unrealistic for my onscreen character to punch at my rate??
I'm sorry guys, as much as I LOVE Bowling and Golf, and Tennis and Baseball to a lesser extent, Boxing is just plain broken crap that doesn't work!

Because it is not in the manual or the in-game tutorial. I'm not sure why.

Uh, for the same reason that if you hit the punch button too fast on Mike Tyson's Punch Out, not only do you not get in nearly as many punches as you did button-pushes, you also lose some timing and don't get in as many punches on your opponent as you would if you timed each punch consecutively after the last. Why is that so hard to believe? It's a video game. You are a real person.

No, he's a video game character. It's not unrealistic, that's just not how they programmed it. If both players were able to just throw a blur of punches nonstop, there wouldn't be much strategy or replay value, would there?

I agree that Wii Boxing is absolute garbage! I loved Wii Sports and, to an extent, still really do. I was absolutely mesmerized by Wii Boxing, at first, simply because of the "ahhh, I punch...my character punches!! How...unique" factor but, in actuality, it's a boring game with NO depth, no incentive to play for long, and no challenge except for the muscle spasms in your arms after only a few minutes! I think, with some time, Nintendo could be onto something and I hope this is a sign that they are considering a Punch Out!! sequel(please, Nintendo, I've been waiting thirteen friggin' years now!!) but Boxing is complete filler. Sorry if I've offended anybody, but it is what it is.

Just wondering if you read my post on how to play it the right way yet. I was the same as you for a while. I just think it is so easy to play the game the wrong way. That is definitely some kind of design flaw, but at least you don't have to play it the wrong way.

Wow, a Punchout game would be easier to pull off than a Fight Night game, and I bet it would be awesome as hell.

See, he we have a perfect example of Wii controls not living up to peoples' perception of how they "should" be. Really, if you think about it, Boxing is how it is because thats how it has to be. If it completely copied every move you made, as fast as you could make it, both people would just throw a continous flurry of punches without the feedback of getting hit by the punch. It isn't an issue about the wimote not registring the action, it is programmed that way, to simulate the timing of boxing. If you are in mid punch, but your charachter is stunned, it ain't gonna throw the punch, which really screws up YOUR timing. You have to adjust.
Also ironic that the biggest complaint by hardcore gamers on Wii Sports as a whole is that it has no depth, but then the game that has the most depth on the disc is broken. I agree it can be frustrating, but it is not broken.
The manual is trash, but maybe some GAMEFAQS users have a better guide. At least Wii sports has an entertaining training mode.

Looking at renting some more games. After a week, here is how I would rate the games I have played on the Wii:
Wii Sports: B
Trauma Center: B+
Sonic & the Secret Rings: C+ (Better/no voice acting & Better/ no cutscenes=B)
Red Steel: F
I would like to try these games... Anyone feel passionate one way or the other on these:
Elebits, Metal Slug, Super Monkey Ball, Call of Duty, Excite Truck

I would give Elebits a whirl. Its different and quirky. I have read some scathing reviews, but most sites claim it feaures top notch motion controls.
I also recommend Metal Slug Anthology. Its one of the best compilations ever made. Just keep the continues limited and you should have a great time playing through all of those classics.
Are you not interested in Zelda? Unless you have some hate towards that franchise I would recommend giving Twilight Princess a go at some point.

Excite Truck: If you like fast-action, twitch arcade-type racing, you'll like this one. A little bit of Burnout, a lot of HydroThunder. Also great if you've only got a few minutes to kill.
Super Monkey Ball: If you've played any of the other Monkey Balls, you pretty much know what to expect, but the Wii control does add a new twist. Rocking your whole hand around seems a lot less precise (than an analog stick) at first, but once you get into it the obstacle-course like nature of the levels is very addictive. Some of the boss battles (new to the series) are a pain. Also a butt-load of multi-player mini-games, but a lot of them kinda suck.
Elebits: Only played one level of this one. It's sort of like a whole game based around the gravity gun from Half Life 2. Shoot/grab things and fling them around, looking for little critters. Seemed kind of fun, but not sure what sort of longevity that sort of thing has.

Excite Truck is my second favorite Wii game (guess the first) and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is third. You have to buy Excite Truck, and if you liked the main game in the other Monkey Ball games you need to pick up Banana Blitz as well. Elebits is good fun too, but definitely rent it before buying it because it is not for everyone. Call of Duty 3 makes a great rental, mainly because you can beat it in one rental.
