Now you can mute people, but what the hell makes folks act like complete retards online? It really makes me hate online gaming. I enjoy playing other players from across the globe, but those few people make me not want to play at all.

I kid, I kid.
Seriously, it's because, by and large, and I mean this, people are morons in general. In real life, most of us guys on here are pretty smart, well mannered, educated, civil people. Trust me, we are not in the majority. Without the filtering of the friendship process that real life goes through before you would invite someone into your home to play games, you are exposed to the majority. The people who watch "Pimp My Ride". It is not pretty. Many of these people think the best game of all time is Madden: Current Year Edition. Many of these people don't even bathe. Find a clan or something or run screaming away from online gaming.

Your post made me laugh hard JLH. I don't play online, but I can well imagine. What a turd. I read an article in the Star Tribune a while back about a group of older gamers starting their own online gaming group, because they just couldn't take it anymore:
A. They were constantly running into guys like your buddy, and....
B. A lot of the younger guys had more time to play and better reflexes, so they were constantly geting their butts kicked, which led to....
C. More annoying trash talk.
If a guy made a list of of things that were more antisocial than online gaming, it would probably be a short list.

[QUOTE=IronKnux]It's because there's no policing online games; they face no consequence for trash talking and there aren't any physical factors involved, so if they think that if they can, why not? Personally, there should be sporadic referees that enter random games every once and a while to issue warnings to frequent offenders. It's understandable to shout expetives if someone snipes you from behind, but they should get to nailing people who use gratuitous and unnecessary profanity.

I disagree with this. I think Microsoft has the best solution. They have 4 different zones. They have a family zone, and a underground zone, pro zone, and another zone I can't remember right now. Anyway if you want a professional game, go to the pro zone, if you want a family friendly game, go to the family zone. If you are a prick in the family, microsoft will lock you out of it, and put you in the underground zone. I think this is the way to do it. No reason to ban people when you have the proper system, and a mute player button. Some people want a rough game, so let them have it in the underground zone.

No, I live in "greater" Minnesota, but the Trib is everywhere. We may differ politicaly on some issues but I love that paper, I have a lot of respect for its quality.
BTW, go Twins! Either this is our year, (and it sure looks like it) or that team will get blown up, the stakes are high in Minnesota. I have spring fever bad.
Why does the DS have no baseball games?! EA could really raise it self in my eyes if it would redevelope Earl Weaver Baseball, that game would be a perfect fit for the DS, I want a baseball game that focuses on gameplay instead of charachter models.
Last random thought : Wii Sports Baseball needed more organ music. Great touch, but they did not go far enough!

I just don't see the point in trash talking with someone I've never met. I have no problem doing it with friends (they know I'm just messing around)...yet I try to be respectful of other people online.
First the guy kept asking me if I had a microphone...my dead silence apparently wasn't enough to tip him off. Then as I sat there taking his verbal abuse I began to ponder what was wrong with this man. What if I had been a 10 year old kid. NBA Streethomecourt is rated E for everyone, and there is a good possibility that right now that same guy is spewing F-bombs and hate towards little kids. Some people just don't have any common sense.
Like I said this happens in probably 1 out of 50 online games, but man does it make me hate online gaming.

Aterifever: LOL.
Yeah, the online thing is... ridiculous, but also very much expected. It's just that age old locker room thing. Occasionally, someone will at least be funny, like the Halo 2 players that would hard wire an mp3 player into their microphones and blast some ridiculous song over and over as they fragged you (I always thought that was kind of funny).
