How does something in German automatically qualify a game title as DUMB?

well, it is not dumb but strange ... i guess it provides the same kind of novelty as i feel every time i get a new wonderswan game :-) we are used to english titels, but a german title from japan is interesting (although herzog zwei = duke two isn´t  exactly what i would call innovative).

The only German I know I learned from Hogans Heroes. Yuvolt, mine Commandant! ...okay I'll bit what does Herzog Zwei MEAN? Isn't ZWEI-back a baby cracker? Space baby crackers at war?

The name COMMUNIST MUTANTS FROM SPACE was picked intentionaly to grab peoples attention-originally the game was called SPACE EGG- so it doesn't count, it's SUPPOSED to be "bad".

Boogerman, too, but it's still snot very good.

That puts me in mind of one of my favorite B-movies.  I always wished they would make a video game version of Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Yes Pac-Man is an awful name. Pac Attack, and Pac Mania are even worse if you ask me. I bet the next one will be called Pac Man Super Pacing.

Pac-Man is a great name. It is called Puck Man in japan but it was changed to pac-man as they worried vandals would change the P to an F.

But PUCK man sounds even worse and makes no sense. Pac-man was inspired by a pizza with a slice missing, not a hockey Puck.

called it PIZZA EATA. Dot Gobbler (another clone), Goblin
Buster, monster buster (again they WERE Monsters, not ghosts),
ENERGIZE!, MazeMan (another rip off title)..SOMETHING that made sense! DONKEY KONG makes sense, it means "STUBBORN (or STUPID)
APE", Q*Bert makes sense...CUBE-ERT? Get it?.... but Pac-Man. Where did that name come from anyway? (Or where did PUCK man come from?)....aw, Puck it! (Hey wait, here's another...even PICK Man makes sense, you PICK up dots...but PAC/PUCK? I don' get it.)

that´s "Zwieback" :-) which means that it is baked twice ... herzog = duke / zwei = two / schwarzschild = black shield  ... kindergarten, waldsterben, gestalt ... do you know what a bratwurst is?

apparently it seems that german is considered an exotic language by the japanese ... herzog zwei, schwarzschild, (galaxy) fr�ulein etc. - for me it has always been funny to import those games to germany
