I read of at least one family that named their daughter Zelda (poor kid!)- and I'm sure there are others. Same with Leia from star wars...geeze, parents, GETALIFE! Think of the teasing the poor kid will go through (Like a kid named MOUSE in my grammer school!)... at least it's better than ZOE, HAMMIE and WREN, the babes in the BABY BLUES comic strip!

Comedian Robin Williams named his daughter Zelda, and he took the name from the first "Legend of Zelda" game for the NES.

I think she should be honored -- LOL

There was a GameBoy game called Heiankyo Alien.  Don't know how to pronounce it, didn't enjoy playing it.  No doubt about it: this is the worst-named game ever.

"Final Fantasy # 2,345,896"....I really grate on that. From the second installment on, they should of changed the name to "The ultimate Fantasy" (it isn't, but makes more sense).
Considering "ultimate" and "final" mean the same thing, I don't see how that's any better.  Contrary to popular belief, "ultimate" does not mean "best."

Actually, it can mean both.

Dennis...I know, but most people ASSUME "ultimate" is best.

How about " The Fantasy gamey thingy that will nevereverever end as long as people keep pouring their hard earned bucks into it, # 3,452?"

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army is perhaps the worst title in the history of anything.  But it's a great game.
"A rose by any other name.." (Munch Man made more sense).
Actually, according to Namco and Pac-Man's creator, "Pac" is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound made when eating, so Pac-Man really IS basically Munch Man.

RPG Critic- In an old issue(1982) of Electronic Games they had some nonsense of what videogame names meant...they said "Pac-Man" was actually based on a Japanese "fairy tale" about a monster who would go around villages eating everything, and "PACU PACU PACU" was the sound the monster made!

Is there any truth to this rumor? More recently I heard it's creator just took a yellow pizza with a slice missing and combined it with elements from a maze and pinball game- this sounds more likely, as his previous video pin game actually had pac-man like monsters on it! (see www.thelogbook.com , the coin-op reviews).

Yeah, "paku paku" is the japanese word for the sound you make while eating. "Pakkuman", Pacman's name as written with katakana after being romanized (if you don't understand, just ignore that point) is a pun on this.

Both "puck" and "pac" are valid anglifications of "pakku", hence why the character was originally supposed to be called Puckman.
