Any list that lacks Gekido:Urban Fighters (PS1) is nothing short of lazy.

I'd say that's actually pretty spot on. The only thing missing is the X-Men arcade game.

I am sure glad they listed the Simpsons arcade game. That is hands down my favorite beat-em up.

How could you omit so many of Capcom's beat-em-ups? They made games like The Punisher and Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, which were both superior to the commonly mentioned Final Fight. Double Dragon was a really popular game but it can't hold a candle to River City Ransom.

This Guardian Heroes game looks awesome! I really need to get a Saturn, because I missed out on too many great games.
Anyways I agree with top pick, Turtles Rocks. But I would definately move Streets of Rage up on the list, to somewhere in the top 3. I would replace Double dragon with its NES sequel, that was far better. But over all this is actually one of the better "best of" lists I have seen.

I pretty much agree with every game on that list. Maybe the order could be slightly different, but overall its pretty good. I actually think Turtles in Time might just be the best beat em up ever made.
If I could change one thing on the list I would take off Golden Axe, because I consider it a hack n slash and not a beat em up...I would replace it with the X-men arcade game. Golden Axe is aces, but it doesn't belong on a beat em up list.

Sorry for the double post, but I had two more comments to make about this list.
First I think that Splatterhouse 3 deserves to be on that list. It was an incredible game that had a great horror theme. It had fun special moves, the unique abilitiy to turn into a monster (unique for the time anyway), grotesque enemies and bosses, relentless challenge and a password save system. The only thing holding the game back is that its only one player. Still if I made that list it would be around 10 or 9.
Second I was just reading the Critic's review of Turtles in Time and he only bestowed the game a B+...what gives? That game is easy A material. There isn't enough things to even nitpick about to knock that game down into the B+ range.

Guardian Heroes is indeed excellent. Be prepared to wade through tons of text screens that take awhile during the game though. This surprises some people.
Some one mentioned the lack of Capcom games and I have to concur, where on earth are the Dungeons and Dragons games they did?
And SoR >>>>> Golden Axe
