Tiger Woods Wii
If you have wanted a great golf game on the Wii look no further. The swing mechanics in Tiger Woods 07 are so much better than the ones found in Wii Sports Golf. The pace is quick, there are tons of options and enough content to keep you busy for weeks. My friend and I just played the game for 3 hours and we were throughly impressed. This game just sold him on getting a Wii (he is a big golf nut).
There is plenty of room for improvement in the game (tighter graphics, more tweaks to motion controls) but based on fun factor alone this is worth $50. The reviews on this game are way off base. I've had a blast with this game and its making think twice about passing up on SSX Blur. I can see myself playing this nonstop for quite awhile.

I think from what I have read that the average scores are because of the bad graphics and no online play. You that means it has to be pretty good in the gameplay department to get a score that high.
I wonder why the graphics are so sh*tty though... they look rough

You know, it's funny how many of the third party Wii games look so bad. I certainly understand that the Wii isn't as powerful as the 360 or PS3, but why do games like Call of Duty 3 and Far Cry Vengence look and run like N64 games? The Wii is more powerful than Gamecube, right? Why don't our Wii games look at least as good as Resident Evil 4 did two years ago on the older hardware? I hope this isn't becoming a trend...
Kudos to games like Sonic and the Secret Rings and Rayman Raving Rabbids for actually trying to make pleasing Wii graphics, and of course, Nintendo is doing a good job with them in their games, too.

I am willing to bet that next year's crop of EA titles for the Wii look much more polished. Also I don't understand how you can fault a game for not including online play when its Nintendo's fault not EA. Nintendo still isn't letting developers use online tools and EA's game shouldn't be faulted for Nintendo's mistakes.
Besides online play doesn't really hurt this game. Like most Wii titles its best played with several people in the same room. It gets really intense and people actually get excited when a difficult putt or shot is made. Plus trash talking is more fun when you can see the frustration in your oppenents face.
If any of you are on the fence about this game, don't be. Its great go buy it now.

Instead of trying to cram graphics in where they can't, EA is focusing on something on the Wii that actually matters: the controls (and they did fit in more courses than the 360 or PS3 version, although still less than PS2 or Xbox). I mean, truth be told, don't you think a game that felt exactly like golf (I mean exactly) but had graphics like the Intellivision Golf would be better than a game where Tiger looked just like himself, but where the controls were terrible? I'm not saying that's the case here (the 360 controls are apparently great and the Wii's graphics aren't Intellivision level), but I'm just saying that EA clearly understands which part of the above scenario is important to get down first on the Wii.

Sonic and the Secret Rings looks incredible. I agree, they need to all get on the same page.
EA bothers me quite a bit. Their games are so dam buggy, its like they don't even try. Madden 07 is awesome, except the fact that there are at least 15 bugs in the game that hurt the experience.

This is one of the first games that truly emulates the sport the way it is played in real life. You need to nail down your swing and muscle memory comes into play...just like in real life. If you are constantly slicing the ball it isn't the games fault...you need to work on your swing.
I find myself "playing it safe" and not going for difficult shots because the risk is too high. Yet when you do go for one it feels really satisfying to nail it.
I can't stress enough how much fun it is to play with a group of people. This weekend I might host a golf tourney in my living room. I'm still in shock over how bad the reviews were for this game...

[QUOTE=JustLikeHeaven]Having spent more time with Tiger Woods I can honestly say the game gets better the more you play it. I've always found the Tiger Woods games to be on the easy side, but this game is hard. Last night I shot 22 over par...easily the worst round of Tiger Woods golf I have ever shot. Today I was playing and I got down to 5 over par. My constant improvement is something that lures me back to the game again and again.

While I definitely am concerned when Godfather BE and Tiger Woods looks like utter crap on the Wii, I think gameplay-wise most everything that has been released on the Wii works well. I've played several Wii games so far and the only genre that bothers me still are FPS. I believe all games like golf and baseball etc could be enhanced with the Wii. Your positive assessment doesn't surprise me at all.

The one thing you are forgetting JLH is that reviewers have to consider everything, including graphics. Therefore, the game is going to lose points b/c it looks terrible. They can't be like "this is a Wii game so we can't factor in graphics". I played the game last night a friends and while I enjoyed it, I honestly think you are playing it up a bit. I didn't think the control (especially putting) was any where near as good as you make it out. I really think if you don't have prior experience golfing then this game will be very hard to pick up. That said I did have fun getting my butt handed to me. It is a good game and I like the Wii control (I still prefer Hot Shots myself though) but I think the 7's it has been getting on most sites is well deserved.
