Baseball Games

I am a big baseball fan, but I have not lately enjoyed any baseball videogames. I would like to here opinions on :

1. Best baseball game on DS, I'm not aware if any have even been released yet.

2. Best baseball game on cube I could get for next to nothing.

I really liked Earl Weaver Baseball on PC many years ago, so I like a little strategy, but not too much. Also create a stadium and create a player/team would be a bonus. But, mostly, what is the most fun game to play? Thanks.

P.S. Go Twins, our starting pitching is going to be way better than people expect. And if Ponson flames out or Silva can't step up, we have some young guys ready to go. This is the best team MN has put on the field for a long time, if we fail to make the playoffs or get swept in the first round again, I may cry.

Errr....the DS just got a baseball game (the 2K series), and it got a 2.5.

The only decent arcade fun portable games remain on the GBA...Baseball Advance, NBA Jam Advance, NFL Blitz 2003, and NHL Hitz 2003

My friends and I have been playing one baseball game for years, and that's Realsports Baseball for the Atari 5200.  It's outstanding gameplay has never been matched.  The hardest part is finding two good 5200 joysticks.

For me baseball games peaked with Baseball Stars on the NES.  It seems the more realistic they have become, the less I enjoy them.  I don't care for the behind-the-batter perspective that I first remember being used in World Series Baseball for the Genesis.  But to be fair, I haven't played many of the games in recent years.  A few years ago I tried one and didn't like it very much.  Anyone else feel the same way?

For the gamecube I think you can get MVP Baseball 2005 for pretty cheap. I have it for xbox and it is an extreamly fun game. It has create a stadium and all that good stuff. The problem with it is that it is two years old so the rosters are extreamly outdated, yet in terms of fun this game can't be beat!

You probably didn't mean anything like this, but Mario Superstar Baseball is alot of fun, especially building a team from scratch and deciding where the Nintendo characters should bat and play defense. The flip side of this is that this game is probably still not very cheap.

Carl - I will check it out, thank you.

Funk - Thanks for the suggestion, I rented that game and am afraid I did not enjoy it much. The Pianta(sp?) people using palm trees as bats was just too much for me, one thing I appreciated about Mario Soccer was their uniforms, it just 'fit' the game better. Normally superficial stuff like that does not bother me, but it didn't help that I was underwhelmed by the gameplay as well. I enjoyed the home run contest though, Mario can really spank a baseball!

I am glad Nintendo developed Mii's and let Mario take a breather as company mascot for a while.
