I think the black xbox is cool. Its for those who have an hd tv that is 1080p. Since that is a small percentage of overall gamers. This SKU is just for those who have to have the best visualls. $479 is actually good if you factor in the fact that it's going to be a collectors item. I can't wait till they sell the new hard drives seperately

Let's see I see threads with Just like Heaven, Alienblue, Mr. Suitmasterm Funkmaster, I think all these people have a Wii so I don't know what your talking about. You can't be talking about me because I barely write anything here anymore. Anyway where's Sega Saturn. I miss that guy.

I don't try to make posts about any specific system.  Tiger Woods is totally consuming me and I figured I would help out Wii owners with some first impressions.  I try to post about the Wii because I find the reviews for the games to be all over the place and the more info I can get the better the chance I won't waste my money.  It feels like I'm helping others on the site that have a the Wii and are going through the same thing.  A game like ExciteTruck got torched with Critic's, but people on here have me thinking otherwise.  I apreciate that too, because the best way to find out about hidden gems is to get on the forums and find out what the people think.

The Wii talks will die down.  Last year at this time all that was being talked about was the 360...which almost everyone on here was calling expensive and a waste of money...even the Critic was talking smack about the 360.  Funny what a year's difference can make.  Eventually the talk will return to classic/vintage reviews and the next gen stuff will cool off.  Its just a cycle on this site.

Sorry if you feel outnumbered or something...I certainly don't mean to toot one system's horn over another.  Just make some 360 threads and we can talk about that...it's all good to me.

He's left Atariage too.  I think he's gone on to pastures less full of old school gamers (he was getting into quite a few arguments with them before leaving, more than usual if you can believe that).

I want to grab one just as a collector's item.  I guess the reason that HD-DVD wasn't included is because the format is dying.  I just got done reading an article saying that Blu-ray is outselling HD-DVD 3 to 1.  Walmart has slashed the prices on the 360 HD DVD player to $129.99.  The store has also apparantely stopped selling HD DVD players in general.  From what I read it stated the format is struggling to stay alive.
 
I'm still perplexed that that didn't include Wi-fi as well.  I think it should be standard with every new console.  The friggin Wii has Wi-fi and I can't even play games over the internet yet...go figure.

The $479 360 rumor is based on the April issue of Game Informer.  Not to put the kabosh to anything but most magazines have an April Fool's Joke running in each issue. 
 
My money for the EGM April Fool's joke was the rumor of a re-issue of Dead Rising with online co-op play at the greatest hits price.

Yes, Blu-ray is destroying HD-DVD...I think this will bode very well for the PS3. Wow! If this takes off then Sony is going to be right again. Only time will tell I guess.

It has been confirmed as truth by Game Informer editors...just head over to Kotaku.com to find the details.  There are also other sources claiming it to be true...not just Game Informer. 
 
So unless the Game Informer guy straight up lied to the people at Kotaku, its not a rumor.

Actually the 3 to 1 ratio was the blu ray discs not the players.
