[QUOTE=Atarifever][QUOTE=JustLikeHeaven]Throughout the history of videogames, an attachment to a console is pretty much doomed from the get go.  For some reason people refuse to buy things to add onto their console.  I can't even think of one exception to this rule at the moment.

The coleco 2600 expansion module?
The entire PC gaming industry (especially at it's peak)?

Did the coleco 2600 expansion module penetrate more than 70% of colecovision owners (I seriously want to know...I have no clue)?

The PC gamer is a much different breed than the console folk.

The Super gameboy did seem to be pretty successful...the gameboy player, not so much.  Go try to buy a gameboy player new online at ebay, they cost $150! If you're lucky you can still find them used at ebgames for around $30, but brand new is another story.

I would say like 1 out of 15 expansion/attachment has a chance of becoming moderately successful.  Most fade into obscurity and become collector's items.

The Gameboy Player was pretty successful.  It met Nintendo's targets and helped to push the Gamecube as well.  I realize you can't get one new anymore, but that's largely because they aren't made anymore.  They weren't intended to be made for terribly long.  Having said that, I can get a full unit that is like new at a Gamespot for about $30.  If they were completely unpopular, they'd be far less than that, and the same could be said for the new ones at $150.

I can't speak to the sales of the Super Gameboy.  All I can say is that everyone I knew owned one.  Since there are a good many gamers who simply aren't handheld gamers, it's always been a near necessity or at least a strong preference for some of us to play these handheld games at home on our television sets.  Until the DS, I really didn't care that much for handheld gaming, though I did own the systems and games and played them on occasion.  Until the DS gave me a unique experience that can only really be a handheld one, I literally had no reason to game on a handheld by preference.  Heck, I even play my PSP on the television using a Nyko adapter.

Found some more info on the 360 black version.  Unfortunately, I can't find the URL anymore.  Anyway, so much for it being an April Fools Joke as it's legit and I was wrong.

The new bit of info though is that it's suppossedly a limited release of say 50K-100K units.  After that they'll replace the contents of the premium 360 with the elite keeping the premium price point of $400.  So, in the long run (this fall) still two SKUs though in the short term 3.

No the stereotyped PC gamer is a different breed.  You will be amazed how many of us PC gamers love console gaming.

I know because I'm one of em.  I love PC games just as much as console stuff.

That wasn't a negative rip towards PC gamers.  Yet there are people who strictly prefer either consoles or PC games...its becoming more and more rare. Probably because consoles are becoming more and more like PCs.

Also the fact that PC games are mostly strategy games and FPSes now. I want my adventure games, dammit
