Check at Xboxyde.com Looks like PS3 is losing more exclusives. Ace Combat actually looks exclusive for 360 also.

Two franchises that have sucked for a long time...not really news to me.  The new games we probably sport some really great graphics and be virtually identical gameplay wise to the PS2 games.

Someone's hatin. Those 2 franchises kill anything the wii is going to have for the next 3 months.

Who said anything about a Wii?  You're the one who keeps bringing it up.  Plus its not like those two games are coming out anytime soon.  So I don't see what the 3 months means.

I just don't really find it news that a company decides to bring a franchise over to multiplatforms...its going to be normal business practices for this gen.  Its too expensive and risky to create exclusive content for the PS3 or 360.  Games like Dead Rising and Lost Plantet are probably headed to the PS3 (its been specualated for some time now).  Its going to be a two way street with the 360 and PS3...idiots are going to post which one is better and why one is going to fail.  Who cares?  I sure as hell don't.

This is horrible news for the PS3.    A 500-600 dollar system needs exclusives badly.  Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 have been the reasons I've been planning on picking up a PS3 this Christmas. Now Grand Theft Auto 4, Assassins Creed, and Devil May Cry 4 are all on Xbox.  I hear rumors that Sony lost Katamari also. If Metal Gear Solid 4 goes to Xbox also, which seems like a good chance considering MGS2 did, I may be waiting even longer to buy one, unless there is a surprise game that comes out of nowhere that everyone must buy (ALA Grand Theft Auto 3).  Why buy a PS3 when the Xbox360 is cheaper and has a much better selection of games?

If you look back throughout Sony's history as a gaming company they always let game go to multiple formats.  Very few games that aren't created by Sony stay on their system.  Final Fantasy and Metal Gear and a few other RPGs really are the only thing that come to mind.

I remember when Crash Bandicoot was the unofficial mascot for the PS1...it didn't take long for Crash to jump ship and that was one of the biggest games on that system.  Sony takes chances with letting IPs go...Capcom had the leverage (360 has bigger install base) and probably wanted an asinine amount of money to keep the game (DMC4) exclusive.  Keeping it exclusive would have probably would have cost Sony more in the long run.  Do you think Nintendo made money off getting exclusive rights to the Resident Evil games?  Buying exclusive rights, plus the cost of development, plus the cost of marketing is something that is going to make 3rd party exclusives a thing of the past.

Sony is banking on new stuff like Uncharted: Drakes' Fortune, LittleBigPlanet, Lair, Heavenly Sword, a new game from the ICO guys, Resistance and Motorstorm to help keep it afloat the first year.  They probably have a bunch of unnanounced stuff in the works as well.

If you look at the history of the company it really isn't doing anything differently.  They are putting their faith in brand new IPs in hopes of attrating people.  Will it work?  It has in the past, but it might not this time.  Who knows.

Yeah Superjay, keep it straight, JLH has a PS3.

I think this is another indication of why it's really important to have great exclusive 1st party games.  Look how easily 3rd party titles stop being a reason to buy your console over other consoles.  It's why I don't understand why people think the Playstation pedigree alone will sell systems; the Playstation pedigree is based nearly entirely on 3rd party titles.

Along with my PS3 and Wii I also own a Xbox 360...

And no I don't favor one over the other.  Each system has different games that I enjoy along with different strengths and weaknesses.

There is a certain minority of gamers that really despise Nintendo for being "kiddie." This certainly goes back to the Mortal Kombat fiasco (which was a bad move; if you are that concerned about the game, don't allow it on your system).

You'll find that the majority of the people who hiijack threads with anti-Wii smacktalk are in that camp. They are the equivalent to the irate callers you hear on sports talk radio. They sound like a huge amount of people because they make lots of noise. Yet, in reality, they are a small grouping of people.

Most people, I find, enjoy mature themed entertainment in games but also don't mind Nintendo's approach.

But as to the OP, yep, exclusivity just doesn't matter that much if you are *not* playing a Nintendo console. Microsoft at least has the Halo series, but that's just *one* franchise.

A wise consumer, if unwilling or unable to buy all three, should pick a 360 or PS3 based on its features and attributes as a console. The games will be a wash between the two.
