Funk, the genesis was the champ of the "4th generation" by a hair, not the super nintendo. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Is the PS3 the new Jaguar?

Okay, I understand you may be 16 or something, but allow me to point out something. Not only did Atari once mean videogames, but they pretty much invented the console market. They fell. And Nintendo. Well, I'll take you back to the 80s. They made a movie about playing NES. They made an honest to God, Hollywood movie about playing the NES. They made a cartoon show totally about NES games. Gameboy was a character! I have never, ever met someone in or around my age range who does not know the Super Mario Bros. music. Guess what, Nintendo fell to third place last generation. Finally, Sega did so well Sonic had 3 cartoon shows at once. Sega did so well that they still get to make millions off of Sonic games, when there has only been one good one since 1999. They had to leave hardware manufacturing. Let me tell you, just because temporarily some company is the most popular, doesn't amount to jack squat come the next shiny new system.

[/QUOTE]Hehe sorry to burst your bubble, but that simply isn't true. The total sales figures for consoles worldwide are listed as follows:
Genesis (aka Mega Drive): 30,750,000
Nintendo SNES: 49,020,000
In the eariler years of the console war, SNES was being badly beaten by the Genesis, but after the release of some of Nintendo's main franchises, as well as new ideas like Donkey Kong Country, SNES sales increased dramatically. The numbers are closer in the US and Europe, but it always helps that in Japan the Genesis was a near-complete flop.

You're not busting any bubbles either way, Alice. Your statement isn't true according to sales numbers, which is what I was going by

Well sure numbers wise it did better. However, the SNES was a distant second place as far as "systems that don't suck" went.

Matter of opinion for sure. I loved the Genesis, but I still preferred the SNES, especially by 1993 when it started smokin.

OK, you guys bumbled around and answered my question by accident. So the SNES somewhat struggled at first, and then came from behind to reclaim that Generation's crown. Interesting. I guess the PS3 still has a shot, but its gonna have to have to equivilent games to Street Fighter 2, Star Fox, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Earthbound, etc. That's a tall order...................... But Lair looks like it could be one.

You don't even know what you're talking about. My buddy brings his Wii over all the time and it takes him all of 2 minutes to set it up.
