Spring Games??

Postby VideoGameCritic » March 23rd, 2007, 9:46 pm

Now that it's officially Spring, any suggestions for seasonal games?

I think it's still a bit early for Dead or Alive Volleyball or Ecco the Dolphin, but maybe some Dig Dug, Golf or Baseball games are in order.  If you're a seasonal gamer like me, I'd like to know what you enjoy playing this time of year.  If you're not a seasonal gamer, please keep your mouth shut!

By the way, I changed the name of this message board, but it's still the same old one.  I thought "Ask the video game critic" didn't make any sense anymore, since people just tend to talk about whatever they want.  Of course, you can still ask me questions if you feel like it!

I think spring is a great time for most platformers. Especially Sonic. Those always start with a really green grass level, and spring means green grass.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG! -here in Maine at last; it got up in thr 60's yesterday, a HEAT wave compared to the 30 below zero we've tolerated most winter! I can't believe I made it alive (well, in the literal sense...)

Anyway, I second platformers with springy grass level and beachside levels (Super Princess Peach/DS- 7Up/ SNES-Genny)...
also INSECT/ARTHOPOD (or call em "bug" although that is inaccurate since BUG refers to only one species of insect like beetle)games like BIO HAZZARD BATTLE (Genesis) and Centipede/ Millipede. SMURF/ColecoVision.... and racing games with springy scenes like DT Racer/PS2; it's a bit early but why not try water sports like SWIMMER and TOOBIN'? HAPPY SPRING!

Play the Tick Tock Woods level on Banjo Kazooie. You'll be humming along to the music in no time.

Hey Dave,

I'm a huge sports guy...so for me spring means one thing...BASEBALL...I'm still playing MLB 2K5 for my xbox and once I get the money I'm going to invest in 2K7 for the 360....could you review that? Yours are the only one I actually believe

Intellivision...

Worm Whomper (one of my all-time favorites..it gets absolutely frantic!)
MLB Baseball (or the even better Wold Series Major League Baseball...you need the computer attachment/emulator to play it though)
PGA Golf

There are lots of games that are Spring/Summer games, so we'll wait until summer for those (Fathom, Frog Bog, Shark Shark, etc)

Spring means formula one! I started playing F1 Pole Position 64 again. I know that  f1 world grand prix for the n64 is technically superior, however the frame-rate is atrocious making pole position my choice. Its a C+ title imo.

You seem to be doing this, Critic, But when you review Baseball games PLEASE keep mixing other genres instead of reviewing three baseball games at once (I am not the only one here who doesn't dig baseball and football / team sports)....mixing DIFFERENT sports is ok though, someone mentioned golf, how about Tennis?

BTW, any chance on reviewing more consoles (handhelds or nextgen) anytime soon?

Yes, Dave, we want you to work 24/7 here!
