If your disk goes bad, simply contact Nintendo and they'll help you retrieve your game licenses. Simple as that.

Is that supposed to be a joke?  I hope so.  Because salvaging stuff off of a broken hard drive is difficult, expensive, and sometimes impossible.   No company - not even Nintendo - will go down that road.

i dont think the wii uses a hard drive, im pretty sure its a flash drive.

if your machine goes bad, nintendo keeps track of what youve purchased and allows you to redownload your games for free.

i think the VC is hit and miss, but TG16 games for six bucks a piece is a steal.

I'd like to see some systems reviewed that the critic doesn't have yet.  Such as:

Emerson Arcadia 2001

Amiga CD32

The Channel F console

The Channel F System II

Its not a joke.  I have read numerous times about people sending their Wii back to Nintendo and it comes back with everything intact.  I've even read that saved games are recovered.

Besides once you download something on the VC you can delete it and downlaod it over and over again.  Once you pay for a game its yours.  They had to do this because of the limited storage space on the Wii.

They don't salvage anything from your hard drive. See, the thing is, you don't pay for actually downloading the game when you buy a game from the Wii shop, you pay for the license to download this game. If you run out of space on your hard drive, you are free to delete any game you've already downloaded; Since you bought the license, you can redownload it whenever you want. These licenses also stay when you format your hard drive - they're not actually on the hard drive itself, but are stored on Nintendo's servers, and will be accessed once you connect to the shop from your console. If your Wii dies, Nintendo can then let you access these licenses you had purchased from your old Wii from your new Wii, at which point you'll be able to download the games over again.

Just gonna bump this with a couple new suggestions.

Kid Icarus (NES) -just downloaded for the V, excellent game.
Wild Gunman (NES) -the best lightgun game for the console by far. At least in my opinion.
Alex Kidd series (Mostly Master System, with one Mega Drive game) -classic platformer series, I was surprised to see not a single one of these games had been reviewed.

I'd love to see your take on these.

As a fellow reviewer, I would mention these because they are interesting to review for him and would be fun to read:

Basketbrawl (7800)
Beef Drop (7800)
Adventure 2 (5200)
Battalion Wars (GC)
Cubivore (GC)
Def Jam: FFNY (Xbox, PS2, GC)
Herzog Zwei (Genesis)
Doshin the Giant (GC)
Scrapland (Xbox)
Trauma Center (Wii)
Excite Truck (Wii)
Godfather (Wii)

Just a few

I'll second the Wild Gunman request, if only to see if you like it as much as Marty McFly did in BTTF2.  It's hard to come by, but a lot of fun.

For my own original request... Vectorman 2 on the Genny.
