Take a look:

Seems like there might be a Wii edition of Resident Evil 4, using the controller.  I hope it wasn't just a strange bug.

Nah I would rather have a new RE game.  I've played RE4 so many times, I dont think I can play it much more.   I was under the assumtion they were making a new RE game for the Wii.  I hope this doesn't turn out to be it.

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Apparently they still are making "Umbrella Chronicles" for the Wii.  That game is an amalgum of remade scenes from all of the RE games based on the Umbrella Corporation.

As for RE4 for the Wii, I can understand why someone might want to pass on this, but I am quite excited about it.  I think the Wiimote would be great for the type of aiming in RE4.  I am at least willing to see how it works out.

Plus it looks like it will contain the sideline scenario from the PS2 game, Separate Ways, which a lot of Gamecube owners never got to play.

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

If these game is only $29.99 I would certainly buy it.  Motion controls can make a game much better if done correctly and RE4 has tons of potential.

The Godfather is a great example of a slightly above average game thats better on the Wii because of the motion controls.  If I was playing that game on my xbox it probably would get boring rather quickly.  Yet the fact that its simply fun to grab people, toss em around and punch their lights out speaks volumes about how influential the controls are.

I can see myself falling in love with RE4 all over again, if the controls are good.  Again I would be more willing to take a chance if the price was discounted at $29.99.

Hey JLH how do you hold the controller when you are punching people. You are peaking my interest in the Wii because you keep talking about it. I would love to get some frustration out.

You hold the remote and the nunchuck up around your chest/face.  You hold the Z trigger to lock onto the nearest target and then you just swing away.  Straight punches result in jabs, while motions across your body result in crosses/hooks.

When some people play the game they make little flicking motions to punch and the remote works, but I like to actually pretend I'm punching a mobster in the eye...it's responsive and it feels great.

Here are a couple of trailers for the game, that are actually a pretty good representation of how the controls work.

Let me know what you think of the trailers... if you have any more questions just fire away...I'll try to answer as best as I can.

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Confirmed:

It'll have a trailer for Umbrella Chronicles (RE:UC), so no worries on that being cancelled in place of RE4. IGN also has details of RE:UC.

To be honest, I have officially lost any interest in the Umbrella Chronicles! Why, Capcom, why would you make it yet another entry into your utterly miserable Dead Aim series?!?! I, along with most others, do not want an on-rails Resident Friggin' Evil!! Here's an idea: cancel RE4 for the Wii(it was released on friggin' GC two years ago for god's sake!!), and pool all of your resources for an all-new RE that will make people forget that RE5 will NOT hit the Wii! God, what an ignorant, stupid company!! I love Capcom but this is just flat-out retarded! Jeez, what's next, a rerelease of the Mega Man Collection with Wii-specific controllers! I love the idea of the Virtual Console but don't make the main console a Virtual Console, in and of itself! Capcom, Ubi Soft, Midway, etc.: STOP BEING FRIGGIN' LAZY AND GIVE UP SOME ORIGINAL CONTENT THAT ISN'T A COMPLETE WASTE LIKE UMBRELLA CHRONICLES! Now, before all of you jump down my throat and say "don't know it till you see it..." I have played every FPS RE and, frankly, they needed a lot more than a new control scheme to make them interesting! They were nothing but a pale imitation of House of the Dead! Grrr, I am so angry about this!

I don't think you can judge Umbrella Chronicles based on the fact that Dead Aim was a bad game. I'd bet that Capcom knows Dead Aim was awful, and will do their best not to repeat themselves. How many on-rails shooters like this do systems generally get anyway? I'd guess about 5 that are any good, and that's a generous estimate. I'm perfectly happy seeing Capcom do something different. If it's bad I just won't play it.

Also, RE4 is one of the few games I actually hoped to see a port of on the Wii. I think aiming your gun with the Wii remote will work really well, since you have to stop to aim, and there's already a laser on the screen. Plus, I never played the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4, and the Wii version will have all of the things from that game (if IGN is correct). I'd be perfectly happy putting down $30 to play through it a different way.
