DKR vs. MK?

Postby Alienblue » April 4th, 2007, 6:43 am

Okay, y'all know I like racing games, and I've been looking for a good DS racer...they had DIDDY KONG racing on display at wal*Mart and I must say, it looks fun! You can pick an animal player, "drive" a plane under a dinosaur..! It's really neat, BUT...

I've never played Mario Kart DS or seen it in action. Can anybody tell me which of these two games they think is the better one? (one thing you should know is I don't care about multi-player play..just solo)

I haven't played Diddy Kong.

But I can tell you that Mario Kart DS is one of the best games for the system, period. It is one of the very few games that I keep coming back to, to cut that slightly faster lap, unlock a few more challenges, and race some chumps online. It's such a well designed, robust package in both single and multiplayer that it is easily a must have DS title.

Well, I think Diddy K. Racing and Mariokart 64 are the 2 most overated kart racers ever made. They just don't control very well, in my opinion, and they feel very dated, good older games don't.

In light of that, DDR is a remake with some cheesy add-on touch controls. Mario Kart is a brand new game engine, controls very well, almost as well as Double Dash, has 16 original courses and 16 remade classic sourse from past games, and has good A.I. It also has some good versus battle modes, and a nice challege feature for single player replay.

I think you would be CRAZY to buy DDR over Mario Kart, my only complaint about the latter is that only 8 of the easy race courses are available on single card wireless multiplayer. Good luck.

I would never in a million years buy Diddy Kong over Mario Kart.  Mario Kart is one of the best games on the DS and if you own the system you should own that game.

Diddy Kong was a second rate Mario Kart ripoff on the 64 and its still a second rate ripoff on the DS.  I remember being so dissapointed with Diddy Kong Racing 64...after the slew of average reviews the DS game got, I don't think I take a chance on that one.

If you like racing games you really can't do better then Mario Kart on the DS...just buy it and you will be very satisfied.

DO NOT BUY DIDDY KONG RACING DS! Especially not over Mario Kart DS.

Mario Kart DS would be a fantastic racer on any system, which makes it that much more impressive that it's on DS. It alleviates the problem of some players being unable to play multiplayer due to not knowing anyone with a DS by not only having bots for battle or vs races, but also wi-fi. I've never played it over the internet but I've invested many hours into playing single player. It has the most depth of any Mario Kart game around.

DDR DS is just awful. Nothing more needs to be said.

Yeah, I also strongly recommend you get Mario Kart DS.  I waited for months after I got a DS to buy it, and after playing it, I wondered why I waited so long.  The game took over my life for about two months.  When I went to bed at night, I dreamed about Mario Kart.  When I woke up in the morning, I thought about Mario Kart.  When I went to work, I fantasized about Mario Kart.  When I had sex, I... oh, wait.  That's right.  I wasn't getting any because I was too busy playing Mario Kart.
