What belongs in the "F" Club, in your opinion?
1). Contra Force(nes): Mediocre trash that doesn't belong in the same league as the other entries.
2). Resident Evil 0: Personally, this didn't do anything for me! Playing through it only brought about the worst sense of deja vu.
3). Secret of Evermore: the only title that Square USA developed and it's easy to see why, so soon after Secret of Mana.
4). Snake's Revenge(nes): I can't help but to wonder why Konami opted to even bother developing this game rather than translating the MSX version of Metal Gear 2!
5). Smashing Drive(Gamecube): This would be an F- title, for me.
6). Oink!(atari 2600): Wow, how fun is this?! For every brick that I replace, that stupid wolf blows apart six!!!!! What a craptacular game!

1) Atari 2600 games) too many too list; Ssssnake, Firefly- sorceror-starfox, BUGS, Pac Man, Skeet shoot, and on and on...
2) Intelivision BOXING, Sub Hunt, Carnival, Donkey Kong
3) Colecovision ILLUSIONS, Space Fury, Pitstop
4) WAY to many on NES to list starting with Duck Hunt, Gyromite..
5) Genesis/Snes: BATMAN FOREVER!
6) N64: SUPERMAN
7) DS: Lost In Blue is awful; just plain BORING, and I hear
the followup is even worse.
I have other systems but either can't think of any F games (I have very few PSX, Saturn, PS2 and Xbox games) or there are wayyyyy too many , like the Gameboy series!

[QUOTE=BanjoPickles]I was thinking about this and was wondering: what games, for you, are so horrible that they deserve a rock-bottom F grade? It doesn't matter how highly regarded it is, if you don't like it then you don't like it. Here are some of mine.

Contra Force wasn't actually a real contra game...it was some japenese shooter and when it came to the US they slapped the contra name on it. Contra Legacy of War (PS1) is more of bottom barrel game to me.
Resident Evil 0 - NO way is this an F game. I love the Resident Evil franchise and sure this game wasn't needed, but it was still around a B level game for me. Its never a good sign when companies use the "lets have two main characters" thing...but it wasn't that bad in this game. Its no prize, but its not failure.
Secret of Evermore - I love this game! It has such a campy vibe and I couldn't get enough of it. The problem is that most people compare it to Secret of Mana and its not a true sequel...it was a spinoff of sorts. It was easily was one of the most original and fresh action rpgs I have ever played. I was glad Square decided to make some changes and didn't go the "safe" route with this one. Some people hate it others love it...

The other problem with this, for me, is I tend to avoid games that have a terrible reputation. The only F's I can think of is from my youth, when I didn't always have a choice, and when I wasn't as well informed (Nintendo Power, looking at the older issues, did usually say when a game was really bad, however. It was just buried in the back with this quickie reviews with the thumbs up thumbs down guys).
Here's what I can recall:
NES: Platoon. Horrible, terrible piece of excrement.
NES: Star Wars. Gets an extra downgrade because it was such a crap use of the license.
PC: There was some football game made by Sierra Online in the early 90's. It came on a whole bunch of diskettes and had an NFL license. The game was IMPOSSIBLE to play, because you could never complete a pass, and the game literally took HOURS to simulate a week's worth of stats for a season game. I recall that the manual even TELLS you to do your simulations overnight while you are sleeping!!!

Mediocre warrants a C grade, not an F grade. Awful deserves an F grade. I'd agree that Contra Force is mediocre, but it's certainly not awful. It has 4 characters, each of which have different weapons, and the weapon mechanics work fairly well. If it wasn't for poor level design- leading to a lot of frustration- the game would be pretty good. I think you're rating this game compared to other Contra games rather than just other games in general.

Duck Hunt! Duck Hunt! What's so bad about Duck Hunt?! Alright, seriously though, I don't think the game deserves an F grade just for being shallow. The zapper works fine, and it's fun to play for a while. I think a game with little depth deserves at least a D if it is fun, and Duck Hunt is fun.
We're in complete agreement on Batman Forever, though. As well as the exclamation point. I honestly couldn't even figure out how to play the game on the first level. It was God awful.

It would've been SO easy to make this game better, adding 3 different kinds of ducks etc..., heck look at SAFARI HUNT that came with the Sega Master System. 3 different screens, lots of different stuff to shoot, and far more clever animation. Duck Hunt might be fun for a few minutes, but few players would ever play it more than 3 times, even kids, especially if they had access to Super Mario or Ice Climber!

Ok, I admit that Contra Force isn't really an "F" game but it certainly was a C/D game. Oh, and Mortal Kombat 1 for the Game Boy! Why, oh why was this game even made! It is choppy to the point of being UNPLAYABLE! That game was certainly an F!!

Heck, Mortal Kombat 1 for the SNES and Genesis are F games. Without the gimmick of being the only game around with blood they just don't have any good features.
