What was the last hand? Was it something absolutely ridiculous like one person getting a full house and another getting a straight flush?

[SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU DIDN'T SEE THE MOVIE]

IIRC, there were three of them left, and they revealed their cards real slow.  The first guy had a decent hand, then the bad guy turned his over and he had a really great hand, then Bond turned his over and *gasp* an unbelieveably incredible hand.

I'd have found it better if one guy had went in on pocket queens because he was the blind ad was almost broke, while Bond could have taken a guy who had two aces and two kings by having 3 twos or something.  It was basically like a disney movie.  Also, it annoyed me that they had one of the characters explain the game to another so that people unfamiliar with poker would understand.  Hey, here's an idea, don't spend an hour on a poker game if you think the people watching won't understand it.  I don't quite get football, but when I go to a football movie 'm always pretty clear on who's winning from the reactions of the characters.  If Bond's friends look happy, I think the audience will get the point that he had a good hand.  That and the pile of chips are probably enough explanation unless you really drag the game out, which they did.

Someone mentioned they had a few problems playing movies on PS3. I just wanted to mention that I've had a pretty cheap DVD player for FIVE years and not ONE SINGLE TIME has it not played a movie. There were a couple of old, scratched discs that skipped but EVERYTHING at least played.

These "problems" seem to be mostly with multi-media players and game machines. (I certainly HAVE had my Xbox reject perfectly good discs more times than I can say, but hey, it's microsoft!)

C'mon now.  It's a movie.  Did you really think he was going to win with two pair?

I suppose you're right Critic, but they could have made Bond get a good read on a bad bluff.

Winning with "the nuts" isn't impressive, so yes, to make it better I think winning with a surprise hand or, like a said, reading a good bluff, would have suited the Bond character much better.  Imagine a war movie where instead of winning through grit, determiniation, and/or good strategy the good guys win by pushing a button that drops a nuclear bomb 1,000 milesaway on people armed with sticks.  That's what the Bond hand was like.  BOOORRRRIIING.

I for one would enjoy having a glass parking lot in my backyard.  No more troop deaths on our side and it's not like you've got to decontaminate the oil after it's out of the ground.  Problem solved for us, not so much for the fools left but they'll be dead shortly.

[yes, this was a joke - feel free to bash me for it though]
