Among the vast amount of FPS reviews on your site, there isn't a Duke Nukem one to be seen. What's up?

Duke Nukem 64 needs to be reviewed. Single player is good but i found the 4 player multiplayer to be quite enjoyable on the n64. Their were duke bots. The only problem was that every player was duke; you almost had to get shot first to make sure you weren't killing your friends in team play. The erratic behaviour usually gives them away. Anyway, shrinking people and kicking them is always fun. B- title. Didn't play duke nukem zero on the n64 .

I remember playing Duke Nukem on my buddy's PC a long time ago. I remember there was a stage with dancing girls, and you could give them bills. I will put Duke Nukem 64 near the top of my wanted list. Stayed tuned.

Thanks Critic. I've always been a huge Duke Nukem fan, and I'm anxious to hear what you have to say about it. If you can get ahold of it, the Saturn version is also quite good (slightly different level design/gameplay due to a different game engine, but less censorship than DN64). The Playstation version (the misleadingly named Duke Nukem Total Meltdown) is supposed to be the most PC perfect of the three, but I have yet to receive it in the mail.

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to forewarn you about DN64. Four hours of straight programming on Visual BASIC.Net will do that. XP
While DN64 plays relatively well, a LOT of content was cut due to censorship and memory limitations. There are only two music tracks (the title screen and the credits), with all in game music getting the axe. Worse is the overhaul of the level content to fit Nintendo guidelines. The strippers you mentioned are no where to be seen; the strip club in which they inhabit has been remodeled into a gun store, and the porn store next door has been changed to a Duke Burger. Also, a lot of Duke's racier comments have been cut and not replaced, leaving him mostly silent (a huge shame). On the plus side, the graphics are on par with the PC version, explosions/last boss have been rendered in full 3D, all of the weapon sprites have been reworked, and it has a featured weapon set that has yet to appear in another Duke Nukem game (the freezethrower, RPG, Devastator, and the chaingun cannon have been replaced with the expander, the grenade launcher, the rocket launcher, and the SMGs, respectively; plus, the pistol, shotgun and rocket launcher all have alternate ammo to pick up).
I highly recommend DN64, but I would play one of the other versions first so you can fully appreciate the setting/humor level that Nintendo wouldn't allow.

As an arrogant and condescending Unix-developer, I completely agree.

Yeah, it's just a prereq I have to take for my software development degree. Not very fun.

Anyway-sorry to veer off course-I wasn't even aware Duke Nukem was on any platforms other than PS and PC. I haven't really played any Duke Nukem since the original on PC, maybe I'll order one. Can you guys tell me what you consider the best console Duke Nukem? (note: I do not have a Saturn)

Well, the SS Duke is good, but it's not worth getting a Saturn for (that's what NiGHTS and Panzer Dragoon are for
). Duke64 isn't bad by any means, it's just...different. I like my Duke swearing and paying strippers, so I prefer the SS version (although I haven't tried the PS version, which is in the mail as we speak). Plus, the N64 controller is hard on the hands when you're trying to aim precisely, and the difficulty wasn't changed to acommodate this.. I've also heard that the GBA Duke Nukem (the aptly named Duke Nukem Advance) is supposed to be good, and is more of a pseudo-sequel than a port that utilizes the same engine.
