Capcom confirmed that Devil May Cry 4 will not be a PS3 exclusive; it will also be available on Xbox 360 and PC. Also, this is unconfirmed, but Final Fantasy XIII may not be an exclusive either. This is all from the May issue of Game Informer.

There's one more thing, which could be taken as good or bad news depending on who you are. Warhawk is going to be a multiplayer only game. It sounds as though you can play splitscreen, but only if you're already playing online; I may be wrong on that. That would make it a no buy for me, but what do I know.

The PS3 is becoming less and less like something I will ever buy. The list of future exclusives I care about is now down to one: Metal Gear Solid 4. Maybe Konami will jump the boat and throw it on the 360 as well. On the other hand, I want the 360 a little more with every "exclusive" PS3 game that comes to it.

Remarkably, the Xbox 360 now has more "Playstation 3 exclusives" than any other platform!  Including the Playstation 3!

So remember kids, if you want to play games designed exclusively for the PS3, go get a 360!

Yeah, but can it play "piss away your first place lead in the videogame market"?  No, I didn't think so; that one's Sony only this time around.

They've been reporting that for week or two on the gaming websites.  The DMC going multi-plat was controversial enough that it spawned an internet petition against it which received almost 12,000 signatures.

That petition's popularity caught the attention of Capcom.  They released a comment about the petition and justified their move to go multi-platform whenever possible.

Capcom was then asked by some of these fans on their forums if Dead Rising and Lost Planet would go multi-plat for the PS3, given that new position.  Much to the chagrin of these fans, the answer was no.

I think Sony has really overestimated their market.  That's the kind of nuttiness that comes from video game company arrogance.

a multiplayer-only game? I sure hope they plan on selling Warhawk for at least 20$ cheaper!

The news about Warhawk being online AND mulitplayer only came at GDC (Game Developers Conference).  I also heard a few weeks ago that Final Fantasy XIII might be the next big game Microsoft lands...it wouldn't really surprise me at this point.

I've seen videos of Warhawk and it looks REAL good.  Its going after the Battlefield crowd.  Online only games can be very successful if well done.  I'll wait until it comes out in the fall to pass final judgement.

Also I find it funny that Microsoft seems to wooing away all these games that have past their prime. Ace Combat 6, Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4.  At this point I would much rather see new IPs than reguritated franchises that have been around for years and years and years.  Its like the equivalent of a sports team signing a big name free agent to a huge contract even though he is in the twilight of his career.  Sure its good for team morale and the fans like it....but how much is he really gonna help the team?

The whole exclusive content is pretty much a bunch of hooey this new generation.  It was a very important thing in the past, but both systems seem to only have a handful of exclusives.  Even the recently announced XBOX 360 EXCLUSIVE Ace Combat 6 is only a timed exclusive (gimme a break).  Just release the game on both systems...nobody cares one way or another.  Microsoft and Sony are basically getting into a pissing contest right now.  The winner?  The nerdy kid in the back left soaked in urine...

They still have Lair, which completely looks awesome.  If it plays as tight as past Factor 5 games then you might actually have a system seller.  However, based on Sony's current track record, I'm not exactly holding my breath.

Why would anyone who doesn't have stock in Sony care to sign that petition?  Gamers should care about the quality of the games they play.  The fact that DMC4 is also coming to Xbox 360 doesn't make DMC4 on PS3 any worse.  It just means more people will get to play it.  The petition says "We find it absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself. "  Well first of all, I could care less what "demoralizes Sony", as I have no stock in them.   How could an awesome game coming to more than one system "demoralize" gamers?  The only people I see getting demoralized are fanboys on message boards who can't brag about this awesome game that he can play but the other fanboys can't.   And who cares what they think anyways?  Why would anyone sign this petition?  You should care about the great games you get to play, and not the great games other people don't get to play.   If the fact that you don't get to rub in the face of Xbox 360 owners that they don't get to play the DMC series "demoralizes" you, get a life.  And please note that is directed at the people who signed the petition, not any person who posts here.

I so agree with you on this.  It's a complete waste of time for anyone to get jealous that their exclusive game is no longer an exclusive.  Now, more people will get a chance to play it, plain and simple.  And isn't that what's important?

Now, if FF13 came out on the 360 in a delayed release fashion, to me that would be a huge coup for MS.  Sony can still say it's "exclusive" for a period of time and Squaresoft can sell a few more copies in the US and Europe.  Essentially, doing so will become a win for all parties, well, maybe not so much Sony but then again Sony owns a portion of Squaresoft so what's good for Squaresoft is also good for Sony.

Kind of like how Activision owns the videogame rights to Spiderman and Sony Pictures makes the movie.  Everyone makes money and everyone gets happy.

I think it would be hilarious if all these hijacked exclusives tanked on the 360.  If its not a racer, or FPS/3rd shooter, 360 fans usually don't buy it.  Say what you will, but casual gamers still haven't taken a shine to that system.

A good test for the 360 will be Mass Effect and Blue Dragon.  If those two games don't sell well (multiple million) I think it will say alot about Microsoft's install base.  Viva Pinata was a miserable failure.  You can buy that game for $20 now at Target.  They couldn't give copies away of that game.  What a shame...its supposed to be really good too.

Good games should sell regardless, but for some reason games have to be ultra violent and very mature to even be a blip on the 360 release list radar.
