Ever notice that because viacom and activision feuded over the license around '02 that all the great star trek games (bridge commander, armada 2) cost over $100 on ebay?
Man it sucks. Anyway do any of you recommend elite force on the ps2? I remember playing it but was annoyed by the inconsistent frame-rate. What about shattered universe or star trek encounters?

Because of Gene rodenberry's vision of a "peaceful" future, Star Trek has never lent itself as well to videogames as the constant laser fire action of Star WARS. Up until around the third season of DS9, there were few great battles in trek, it was more of a "thinking man's" sci-fi show, more cerebral. Even with the battles, it's more strategic than one on one.

Aside from the original PC Trek games, I've only played two Star Trek games. Strategic Operations Simulator is good on most classic consoles, though rather slow. (The coin-op was much more memorable). Also, the old DOS PC game "A FINAL UNITY" was a fasinating strategy game with graphics that impress me even today! Live long and prespire little!

I loved playing Star Trek Judgement Rights and Star Trek 25th Anniversary by Interplay (for PC). Countless hours spent roaming around the Alpha quadrent narowly escaping Romulans, Pirates and such.

Another great Star Trek game was Star Trek for Windows 3.1, THAT was fun

The only Star Trek game I found worth playing for a console was Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past. The shooting action is sub-par, but the locales are interesting and the dialogue is well-written.

Legacy looks decent; if I muster up enough money for a 360 I'll have to pick it up as well. It's only 20 dollars new at the local gaming store near me.

It's funny but my inability to beat Echoes when I was about 8 actually sparked my interest in collecting games, being my first ebay purchase a few years ago.
I remember my best friend owned it, he lived at the top of my street and him and I took turns playing the game for days on end. The game has a battery backup so we could save our progress. For about a year we were stuck in those damn mines on Oriens Gamma IIIB, but then one day we actually beat it, and our progress surged forward.
About a month later, we let another friend borrow the game to try it out. In return we were lent a star trek board game "A Klingon Challenge", it was a "movie play along" game which included a VHS tape, which were in style about that time. Anyway, our friends younger brother DELETED our save file. Discouraged, beaten and with the playstation launch looming on the horizon, the game was shelved, then sold...only an echo from the past at that point.

we kept the board game as consolation. I still have it to this day, played it a couple of months ago actually.

That game was my Everest.

Star Trek 25th Anniversary, which I played on GameBoy (but which may have been released on other consoles in its exact form plus color) was terrific.  If you were a fan of the original series, you'll love this game.  They incorporate different epsiodes, use the technology in a way that is consistent with how it was used on the show, even use the same music.  Really good game!

Rosperious, what did you do to the younger brother? I would have gotten the crap kicked out of me for that.

Star Trek Legacy is pretty good as far as graphics and gameplay goes.  If they ever fix their servers, multiplayer would be a blast.  It's just a pain getting a good room going.
