Just got Guitar Hero 2 for 360!

Postby Quill » April 19th, 2007, 12:49 pm
As a pro musician I can say that it is totally different. I play bass and can play "John the Fisherman" by Primus in real life and the Guitar Hero game is actually harder to me... or maybe just that different.

I dunno, I also wasn't blown away by this game either. It was fun for a night with the band, but I didn't like most of the songs.

However, ROCK BAND may be more fun to me

I've heard a very similar complaint from my friend that plays guitar. He likes the game but just gets frustrated with it. Surprisingly I told him to try expert as opposed to hard and he actually did better... probably because it's a tad closer to the actual song in terms of notes strummed? That's just a guess on my part...

Another problem with GH2 is that every single damn song is over 4 minutes long.... well not everyone but most are. Most of which are just the same riff over and over again... hey I know it's nice for the purist but for the average guy like myself it's just annoying... career mode should have featured shortened versions of the full songs.

I think we have a case of a company pandering far too much to a very small yet dedicated group to the games.

You guys are probably going to laugh at me but I think GH2 bricked my 360. I have a launch 360 so I'm not sure if thats the reason I got the 3 red lights or GH2. I'm going to call Microsoft tomorrow. I'm not worried. This will just give me a reason to buy GOW2 and Zelda for the Gamecube. I'm sure those games will keep me busy till I get my 360 back. Anyway I hope you all enjoy your 360's while you got them.

Sorry to hear that man.  I really don't understand the shoddy craftsmanship of the 360.  Its the only real knock against the system.  I hope Microsoft takes care of you and you don't lose any saved games or other important stuff.

Hopefully the 360 elites will be built to last...unlike the previous batch of systems.  Anyways, good luck getting the system back.  Let us know how Microsoft handles the situation.  I hope their customer service is top notch.  I'm sure you will be fine though.

It's most likely because it's a launch system.  The one's since last summer have been a LOT more durable (early on I had numerous send backs).

He won't lose any saves because he can just detach the hard drive and send the machine back separately.

Actually I kinda feel sorry for you dude... did you do the online update? Apparently it has been bricking systems left and right... some are ok buth others get screwed up. I've also heard that Microsoft may not replace it for you free of charge and Red Octane has only recently acknowledged the problem. Also I've heard their customer service blows monkey something.

Whatever you do, don't tell MS that it's a launch system.  Tell them you picked it up within the last 6 months, else you'll have to pay $129 for them to fix it.  I think they may have extended the warranty to a full year but regardless, launch systems are now outside the warranty period.

Also, if they give you another 360 unit your marketplace purchases will no longer work unless you're signed into xbox live.

I'm sure after enough folks complain they won't charge you or will reimburse you but from my own experience just say within the last six months to save you some dough.  Good luck!

Quill and Actraiser are right. I will have to pay 134.99. I tried about the fact that I bought it 6 months ago but they didn't care. I wasn't going to pay it but my wife told me she would find a way to get money to pay it. I love her. Anyway this experience has soured my position on loving the xbox brand so much. I'm going to be selling half of my 360 games and I'm going to do whatever it takes to get a wii. This is the second time microsoft has f'' me. They messed me up when I had to buy the 360 through ebay because they couldn't fill reservations. No more. I will treat them like everyone else. Anyway thanks everyone for the positive feedback.
There needs to be a special cowbell controller just for Blue Oyster Cult!
That was one of the funniest skits I've ever seen on SNL.  To this day though I have no idea why.  It cracked me up for completely unknown reasons.

I am in the same boat, though it wasn't because of Guitar Hero.  My 360 has been working fine for a few hours, then shutting off and showing the red ring of death suddenly and without warning.  Last night, when I stuck in Call of Cthulhu, the period of time was less than a few seconds after turning the thing on.  So now I have to deal with 360 customer support.  Luckily, this system is about a month shy of the 1-year warranty period expiring.

I thought I'd seen it all when Sega Saturn X started to diss Nintendo, but this is huge.  That is, without a doubt, horrible.  $134.99 for a company to to fix their own product that is that well known for breaking is terrible.  It's like Microsoft is afraid to beat Sony, so they're doing what they can to hurt their brand.

I'm not much of one for the fuzzy math employed by Sony fanboys to show that the 360 is more expensive than the PS3 (as all of it is silly), but in this particular case:
  $399
+$135
----------------
$534 for a 360.
It does not look quite so good anymore.  Harsh.  My sympathies.

Wait, aren't you the guy with a Neo Geo?  What are you doing playing the 360 anyway?
