I just tried to post something and it asked me to complete an image verification. I have no problem doing it, I just want to know what it's for. Could you clue me in Critic?

It happens to me when I put links in there. I believe it's to make sure SPAM bots don't put in commercial links as posts.

I don't know how this message board works (it's a service I pay for), and I've never tried to upload an image. I would caution against uploading images in general though. One time the board provider advised that my disk quota was full, and I had to go in and delete all of the images. Keep them small.

That's not what he is talking about. Every once in a while when I have to post, it will show a picture of a bunch of letters. It will tell me to type that in. Sometimes it won't let me post because it says you can only post every 30 seconds, even though I hadn't posted anything in hours. Its just rather strange. Maybe we should email the board provider.

Yeah, I've had that 30 seconds warning before when I haven't posted in hours as well Edward M. I was putting links to ign, so I guess the same thing has happened to Atarifever. It's weird though because I've never been asked to fill one of those out when I posted links before.

Yeah, I had problems with that stupid thing, too! I'd post, it'd say "Verify the image," I'd type the letters in, and it would say "Your postings must be at least 30 seconds apart. Time remaining: 12 seconds" or something (I'm paraphrasing). I'd wait the 12 seconds and re-post and it would give me the image verifier again. Then I'd go through this loop all over again--very annoying. Finally I used a stopwatch and waited 45 seconds after the image verifier page came up and posted successfully.

Very annoying.
