Where do you guys get old games?

All of the big chain stores in my city (Gamestop, Game Crazy, etc.) do not carry anything older than N64 anymore, and the selection for N64, PSone, etc., is pathetic.

However there are a few smaller stores (Video Game Exchange is one) that still have cases and cases full of 2600 games and other older systems.  I would think every large city would have several stores like this.

I usually rely on EB Games for my Playstation fix, they are cheaper than what I'd pay on ebay with shipping included. As for N64 games, the official norwegian Nintendo forum has a subforum for shopping, where one can find N64 carts for rather good prices. For older games, ebay is pretty much the only option, yeah.

In quebec on the west island in pointe-vlaire there's a collectibles shop (stamps, toys, coins. cards, etc.) called Bluenose. They have all the old system games and most systems. Majority nes, snes, n64, genesis but also have decent selection of intellivision, atari and were een selling an odyssey 2. Mostly fair prices.

I usually get my retro games at one of three places: eBay, Gameswizards or Take 2 MGM (a second-hand movies, games & music store).

However, my most recent retro purchase was G-Darius (PS1) from a local pawnshop, for AUD$12.00.

Some good bargains I've gotten are Lifeforce Tenka (PS1) for AUD$8.00 on eBay and GoldenEye 007 for AUD$9.95 at Take 2. My most expensive retro purchase was Tombi for about AUD$50.00 on eBay.

Online is the best bet, but I'm pretty lucky where I live.  There's a Korean guy named Hari who sets up at the local flea market every weekend and he specializes in used systems.  Everything from Atari to PS2, he's got, plus accessories and peripherals.  And he'll even pimp yo box for a few bucks.

I've never found anything of interest at the Salvation Army, unfortunately, except an electric typewriter for $10 and used PC (which I didn't buy).

Goodwills vary by location.  In one city I got an NES for $5, but had to hit the flea market for controllers, a used game store for a test cartridge ($0.35 for a SMB/Duck Hunt cart), and rob my busted answering machine for a power cord.  They once had a Dreamcast, but wanted $25 for it and it came with nothing but the console--no telling if it even worked.  At the Goodwill in another nearby city (this one more prosperous), I got a complete, boxed Genesis for $5; on another occasion I got a working Game Gear for $3; another time there was a Genesis/Sega CD and display/storage box on which they sat for I think $10.  I didn't buy that since I don't need it and have no love for Sega CD or 32X.

Online it's eBay, but you have to watch the shipping-scalpers and hope you don't get outbid.  Amazon is better that way: if it's listed, you get it for the posted price, and you don't get ripped on the shipping.

Plus, you don't have to deal with listings like "L@@K! Minty! Rare HTF Super Mario Brothers NES! Retro! Low Starting Bid Just $25!"
