I had heard good things about the Xbox version of Serious Sam, so I went on eBizzle and picked up a sealed copy. Just received it today; I was practically salivating as I tore open the packaging. I giddily popped the disc in, created my profile, and load up the first level...
...which took a good 5 minutes.
After resetting my Xbox and deleting all of the SS data (in case it was corrupted or something), I try it again with the same results.
Figuring that this was just a part of the game no one mentioned, I started plowing through the fist level, only to discover that every thirty seconds or so, the game would freeze up and the music would skip for about 5-10 seconds. In a twitch game like SS, this is a big nono.
So I hit the net to figure out what the deal is, and I happen upon this three year old thread about the issue. It confirms that a number of the initial discs were defective; specifically, ones that had a serial number ending in 03. Guess what mine ends with?
So it gives a number to call, figuring I could talk my way into a replacement since I bought it sealed. Well, the number's out of service, and I doubt there's any other way to get Gotham Games/Take 2 to replace it.
Has anyone else had problems with their SS disc? If so, what did you do about it?

UPDATE
I got through to Take 2 support, and I'll be able to mail in my disc for a replacement. Might cost me $7.50, might be free, but either way I'm feeling pretty good about it.
Still ticks me off that it happened in the first place though...

Glad to hear you got the situation handled. I hope you don't have to pay the extra $7.50.
When you finally do get the game in be sure to post some intial impressions or something. I was really interested in the first game because it sort of seemed like a Duke Nukem knockoff...sadly I purchased the second game in the series and its horrible. I hope the first game fares better.

Well, from what I was able to play glitch free, the game is awesome. There can be almost a hundred enemies onscreen at once, all throwing projectile attacks, with no slowdown. I also like the humor level of the game: absurd with a touch of sarcastic. I do have to say that the auto aim option makes the game entirely too easy and should be turned off.

I have Serious Sam for the cube and it is a testosterone killing blast. But man, when I finished the Roman world (which took several LOOOONG hours) and I arrived in Asia or wherever and the enemies were the same, it just drained me.
I got bored, but it was good.
