Don't ya hate it when you buy something first hand and then a year or two you see the same thing only better! I am talking about those Special Edition Games that come out.

Or how about that 360. Look what Microsoft did! I know a lot of people who were pissed because of the new one that came out. (some say it's a rip-off) but still! ARGGHHHHH

It's been this way in Video Games since the begining! You are paying the price of being an "early adopter". I have only bought five Systems when they were "NEW!", right off. Colecovision, The NES, Genesis, GBA and DS. Other systems I waited at least a year or so before buying them....but there are trade offs. Sure you save money by waiting, but you may find early, good titles hard to find after a year AND- well, that's one year you are NOT enjoying the system. Like Colecovision went from $189.00 to $129.00 and less...But I had a LOT of fun during that first year I got it. Certainly fifty bucks worth. I felt most burned buying the NES with R.O.B., Gyromite and Duck Hunt for almost $200 PLUS shelling out $35 for Super Mario Bros., when a month later they came out with the BASE UNIT with SMB for $129!!!! GRR!!! ... Right now I am enjoying PS2 and Xbox and will do so untill the Wii comes down to $175 or less, as there is NOTHING for it I want THAT bad (though Paper Mario is tempting, I am very poor and sometimes MUST adopt late).

As for a game I look at it this way....if you buy a $40 game and play it at least once a day for forty days (not necessarily in a row), you've rented it for a buck a day. If it is of absolutely NO interest to you anymore, sell it for $20 and it comes down to fifty cents a day!

Some people pay over a Thousand bucks for rare CRUMMY,AWFUL games they NEVER play. This hobby can be as expensive or as cheap as you want, you just need to be flexible. If You bought DOOM, don't be mad if DOOM2 comes out two months later. Chances are an even better DOOM5 will be out in a year! Don't worry be happy!

Yeah, I know how you feel, guys.  When I got my PSOne (well, my then-girlfriend now-wife got it for me for Christmas), it cost close to $200 and came with a regular controller.  Just a little while later, it came down to $150 and included a dual-shock analog controller!  If I wanted to buy the controller by itself, it cost close to $30!  I felt pretty burned... but quickly alleviated my ill sentiment by burying myself in some immersive, 3-d gaming goodness.

You forgot the part of the story where you bought a Dreamcast then.

Here is my story of "it really sucks when"

It really sucks when you want to buy that new dreamcast and don't want to pay top dollar.  Whats a young teenager to do?  Gather up all of his prestine condition Nintendo 64 stuff and pawn it to EBgames for a measley $100 off a dreamcast (seemed like a great deal at the time).  I sold my N64 with about 15 perfectly boxed games to that evil store.  A little while later Sega announced that it was killing the Dreamcast by not making any new games.

If the Dreamcast wasn't so frigging amazing I would have been really pissed.  It took me unil this past Jan to finally re-aquire a boxed mint N64...it cost me about $100 on ebay.  Now I'm slowly rebuilding my collection of games for it.  In the end to save a $100 its gonna probably cost me $300-$400.

I bought a ps one (new model) in 2002 at $79.99 (and they were selling those out at this time too) and two weeks later my brother wins the ps2 prize at subway. Suffice to say while I play ps1 games, my ps one system stop being used. Special editions don't come out that often and only select games. This special edition procedure is much worse in the music and home video industry.

What spell did that "evil store" use to force you to sell your N64? I want to make sure I don't fall under its spell.

Well, they DO try to pretend their scams are actually good deals.

Are you sure only $100 off? At my ebgames in canada trade in 10 games and the ps3 is $399.99 instead of $699.99
