why did you need a 'mint in-box' n64? that system was built like a tank, ive never seen a broken system, you couldve saved a lot of money buying used.

EBGames if for people who don't know how to use eBay. Sad, sad people who will end up getting scammed.
But more pertinently. I had a slight "it really sucks when..." story, and that was with my Gamecube. I got a shiny new Nintendo Gamecube at EBGames with a free Gameboy Player for $150 in August 2003. But then about a month later, I saw an ad on TV saying the Gamecube was now only $99! Thankfully I was able to sell the "free" Gameboy Player for almost $50 on eBay later on when I didn't really want it, but still, that was kinda unnerving.
Has anyone else bought a gaming system a mere month or two before the price was dropped?

Well, they DO try to pretend their scams are actually good deals. "Awesome deal: Trade in your PS2 and 10 games, get 100$ off a new PS3"
Are you sure only $100 off? At my ebgames in canada trade in 10 games and the ps3 is $399.99 instead of $699.99
I was just guessing back then, but I checked as I went there today. It's 1200 kroner off if you trade in a PS2 and 5 games, and 1800 kroner off if you trade in a PS2 and 10 games. The console is either 5999 or 6499, the poster didn't say, and I didn't bother asking, but those are the only prices I've seen it advertised for.
Nontheless, it's a horrible deal.

Not everything is overpriced at ebgames. Anyway, stuff always goes on sale right after you buy it. My laptop was on sale for $1299.99 instead of $1499.99 and one week later it was $1099.99. Not to mention dual core processors came out three months later. As for systems, my brother bought an n64 for $279.99 cad at zellers. Month and a half later it was $199.99. Prices naturally drop all the time. The point is that if you keep waiting by the time you buy the system it has less than a year left before its 'replaced'

Anayo.... there is another reason some people CANNOT get on Ebay. My exwife ran up all my credit and took my disability (I'm on partial SSI-suplemental security income-for my disability, and I do some freelance work); therefore I cannot use the internet to buy games, unless they will take a money order-I have no checking account even. I lost my Van too, so I cannot even go to another town to look for games. So It's not like I WANT to use Wal*Mart or expensive stores, it's just that I have few options.
I bought a DS a few months before the DSLite came out. However, my original DS had a bad screen anyway due to an accident, so I needed a new one anyway (I sold the old one & 2 games for $25; the buyer knew the story)...the saddest story was I paid $800 for a DOS PC in 1992! I sold it for $100 2 months later and eventually had to get a Windows machine...ARGHH! SEARS!!!!

What spell did that "evil store" use to force you to sell your N64? I want to make sure I don't fall under its spell.

I hate EBgames/Gamespot...all they care about is the sale of used games...over and over again. They mostly target young kids who don't have enough money to buy games they want...so they trade in all the crap they "think" they don't want...Too bad when that kid is 23 years old and he finally realized he traded in a mint copy of DragonForce (Saturn) for a measley $15 credit towards next years version of madden. Talk about getting ripped off...
I know some people enjoy the store, but they have countless shady business practices that have soured them to many collectors. I buy all mof my games at BestBuy, independant stores or online.
One of my biggest gripes is that they know how much value certain games have on the collector's market and the ruin them by putting no less than 5 different stickers on the case. A few months ago I was gonna buy Mario Tennis for the Gamecube, but for $44 the otherwise perfect condition game was ruined by countless ugly stickers. Yea the stickers don't effect the game, but as collector they effect value.

Because I'm a videogame collector and I don't want my systems to be in crappy condition. My friend offered to GIVE me his N64 for free and I turned it down. It wasn't in great condition, didn't have a box, nor the inserts and the controller was in terrible shape. I would rather pay the extra $30-$60 to get a system in great shape than pay for something that looks like a 6 year old touched after eating a jello pudding snack pack with his bare hands...
