O.K., we've had the big 'are they or aren't they' holding back Wiis to create false demand topic, here is some new data.

Well, according to GoNintendo, Wii production has been ramped up to 14 million a year. Don't know what it was before, but even now it would still take 7 years to reach 100 million. I know I am putting the cart ahead of the horse, but are they doing  enough to meet demand? A little more than a million a month, split all over the world.  By contrast, they are making 2.5 million DS a month.

Just saying, if the Wii is the casual, non, and disenchanted gamer machine it is hyped up to be, will this be enough? Personally, I am starting to believe the Wii will be the market leader this go round, all the reasons why not seem to be pretty weak. Dedicated gamers will be the strongest group of all for Wii, the 360 and PS3 are so similar, people buying multiple consoles are likely to get
Wii # 2 if it is not there #1,. especialy since Nintendo will far and away have the greatest number of true exclusive games.

Also, more news ripped from GoNintendo, I think these 2 charts show the greatest reason why Nintendo typicaly has the weakest 3rd party support :

Top 5 software sales worldwide - per platform

April 27th, 2007

Nintendo Wii   North America:
1. Super Paper Mario (Nintendo)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo)
3. Wii Play (Nintendo)
4. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (EA Sports)
5. WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Nintendo)

Nintendo DS   North America:
1. Pokemon Diamond (Nintendo)
2. Pokemon Pearl (Nintendo)
3. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo)
4. Brain Age (Nintendo)
5. Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo)

People buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. For the record, I have 4 Nintendo consoles, (6 with Wii and DS B/C) and have currently have 23 games, 17 of which are Nintendo exclusives. Granted, I am a Nintendo Partisan, but I am probably pretty near the norm. I think Nintendo has a little cash to stash for a rainy day.

I agree. Probably about 80% of my games for Nintendo systems are made by Nintendo.  I like their products, a lot!  If that makes me a fanboy, than I must be a Honda fanboy too.
