Nextgen Handheld?

Okay, so everyone is having a happy Spring with the release of Wii, PS3 and XB360(well, that was LAST spring but...) - Any idea when the next gen Handheld will be out, and from Nintendo, Sony or- is Microsoft ever gonna do one?

What would you all want in a next gen? I love my DS but playing PS2 and Xbox games makes me wish for the nextgen. I want it to be fully DS/GBA compatible and MAYBE have a covered slot for OLDER GB/GBC games too! That would be awesome! Since DS has N64 level graphics, I would like the graphics to be at least GCN quality. It could come with ANIMAL CROSSING, MARIO SUNSHINE or best of all a 2D version ofSUPER MARIO GALAXY!!! Overall it would be like the DSlite but possibly with some kind of LASER POINTER that would function on BOTH screens! The screens would be slightly larger. It would have an extra slot since games would come on new media discs, but you could play all those DS GBA and-remember-older carts too (I'm really dreaming arent I?!). Controls are about the same but with analog option. Cost: Under $200 (WHAT is this guy SMOKING!!!?????)

Oh and I want a mass market portable Atari 2600 handheld- make that a 7800 to play all 7800/2600 games. It would be about the size of a Gameboy Color with a wider cart slot and come with thirty built in games free! NEW 2600 games would be released for the first time in decades, and be compatible with past units. The unit may possibly also have an extra slot for discs that hold 30 or more 2600 games each. (look, old 8-bit computers could take both carts and discs!) price: $149.98

And while we are at it, A handheld NES, SNES and GENESIS and...
oops, sorry, time for my meds, they are wheeling me into the quiet room now. byebye!

Well, Curt Vendel was tossing around that idea back on Atariage (minus the 7800 stuff) awhile back, but last I heard he's tied up with his 7800 keyboard project right now.

I want the DS to last forever. (or 10 years. whichever.) I regret that Nintendo did not program it to wirelessly play GBA multiplayer, but I suppose that was to protect the SP. Really, it is cool that it is b/c with the GBA in the first place, maybe the biggest factor for the success of the DS, at least before it really came into its own.

I will laugh if they ever use the GBA slot for some kind of graphics expansion pack, though. Is it even possible? Can the DS pull an N64?!

Also, has there ever been a handheld with a/v outputs to put on the bigscreen, even  if it took a hit on resolution? That would be cool.

I bet Phantom Hourglass will be more fun than Twilight Princess.

If you have meds, you have to bring enough to share with the whole class.

Yes, it's definitely possible.  The GBA slot is actually a DS expansion slot too.  And at least in Japan, there are several add-ons.  Since the DS-Lite, these add-ons have been in the shape of the DS-Lite's slot protection cover, making such expansions almost completely invisible.

So far, the expansions have been used to add things like rumble, memory, and have been used to expand certain games.

I do have one stupid idea, but it could happen:
Imagine wirelessly connecting to the internet on your DS via the Wii. With Elite Beat Agents plugged in, you could trade songs on the internet to get new songs on an itunes-like library. That way, you could customize your track list, filling it up with punk rock or pop or just the really hard ones.

Wow, those meds really hit the spot.
