Two series Capcom needs to bring back

Of course, they need to do these for the Wii:

1.  Bionic Commando.  With the same storyline as the Western NES version: neo-fascists in the future are trying to revive Hitler.  Rather than festooning the game with swastikas and hit you over the head with the fact that you're fighting fascists, they should keep the subtleties of the NES game, and only let you know that "Master D" is Hitler at the very end.

Of course, the nunchuk will be used for the grip line and aiming.  It could be an FPS or third person shooter, if it's done well.


2.  Strider.  It could be a remake in the mold of the Xbox Ninja Gaiden.  Of course the Wii remote will be used for swinging the plasma sword.  I really didn't care for the NES version or Strider 2, so maybe it could be a remake of the very first one... I'd especially like it if they left in the part where the Politburo "collectively" turns into a hammer-and-sickle wielding centipede!

I'd like to see the same storyline as the original too.. with the Gorbachev-like Soviet premier cursing your exploits at every turn.


(Of course, The Red Star seems to be heavily influenced by Strider... maybe that will satiate me if they never come out with a Strider remake)

No subleties existed. In the japanese game, there is no "Master D", he's referred to as Hitler throughout the entire game. In the censored english versions, they weren't allowed to have Hitler in the game, so they changed him for some guy named Master D, but didn't redraw his portrait for some reason. He's no more Hitler than Der Staadtmeister from the SNES Wolfenstein is - obviously him, but they're not allowed to say so. They're not being subtle, they're being censors.

I know this.  But I think they changed it such that they were still fascists, but it wasn't as obvious.  I think the end result was a storyline that was much more intriguing and suspenseful than the initial storyline, with an end that was much more surprising.  (If there were swastikas everywhere, you'd *anticipate* that Hitler is the final boss.)

Bionic Commando would be wonderful, but I would keep it 2-d. No 3-d Bionic Commando could be as quick and responsive as the 2 -d version.

If Capcom is careful enough in Bionic Commando's transition to 3D -- a la Metroid Prime -- it could be really good.  I don't think a motion-based grappling hook would work in 2D.

Or just keep the same engine from Bionic Commando, and expand on the number of things the hook can grab onto, and apply more physics.

Honestly, if they were to redo Bionic Commando, I would just want more of the same, but that is just me. I think there would be a greater chance for a good game if it was not 3-d.

I think it'd be awesome to "ride" the first Strider boss and kill it in 3D. Or that Siberia stage... Oh man, they should totally do a Ninja Gaiden style update.

capcom made strider 2 for the psx and it was a pretty cool game. i would imagine it catches a hefty price on ebay these days
