Hi,
One more xbox 360 question:. I heard someone mention that it may be possible to use a friend's internet connected 360 to download updates (firmware, extra content, etc.) for my 360. Is this true? If so, how would it work - I mean, would I need to take my hard drive to his 360, or what exactly? Come to think of it, I've never understood the purpose of the detachable hard drive anyway.
Thanks for any input.
Is it possible to take my 360 hard drive to a friend to download updates?

I have never done this so I can't be 100 percent certain. But I am mostly certain you can. Just plug the harddrive into his xbox 360. Go online. It will ask you to create a Xbox live account. Just chose Silver. Silver is free and you can download updates with it. You should be able to download your updates that way, and bring it back to your house.

You could download content on to your harddrive; however, firmware updates are stored on the 360 itself, meaning you'd need to take your entire 360 to his house, which is what I'd recommend doing. Your profiles/and your friends xbox live profile are stored on the harddrive.
So, you've got a couple of options.
1. Recover his xbox live account on your harddrive, which takes a while and it deactivates his xbox live account on his machine, which isn't that big a deal as he can just recover it afterwards.
2. Purchase an xbox memory card to copy his profile to it, doing so will easily allow your friend to sign in using the memory card on your 360. Note: I haven't verified this on the 360 just on the Xbox.
3. Sign up for the xbox live silver membership and download away - just bring a credit card in case you decide to buy anything aka Geometry Wars.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.
This is all so confusing and so expensive! I hate that Microsoft didn't include wireless in the box. I am reluctant to shell out $100 for a wireless adapter.
Thanks again.

Are you saying that you don't have to use the X-box wireless adapter and that you can use another type? Sorry if I misunderstood you.
