Guitar Hero 2 sucks?

OK, I know it's a good game but besides the fact that I feel the track listing is lacking......
this game just doesn't grab me like the first one! I made it to the "hard" section and I just don't feel like putting the time in to master this game. What's wrong with me?????
I guess if I liked the songs as much as I did the first go around I would feel the need to press on. Be as it may I think this game is getting much more shelf time then I thought it would. Especially after spending $90!!!!!!!!
Anybody else feeling this pain???????????

Good thing I don't want the 360 version. I just like old school systems so I have both for PS2.

I definitely have. It just isn't the same this second time around. I don 't know if the novelty wore off or what. My theory is that they tailor made this version to the hardcore music fans and forgot about the rest of us.
All the songs are full length in career mode and most of the songs are 4 minutes or longer. This wouldn't be so bad if you weren't playing the same riff over and over again. As soon as I got through the medium mode to unlock everything I stopped playing by myself. Last game I made it almost all the way through expert but this time I have zero desire to. Hopefully they'll correct this in the next one and give us A. Better songs and B. Abridged songs that are over 4 minutes in the career mode.

I too have both versions for the PS2, and I liked the second one as much as I liked the first one. But really, it's just the same basic game with a new set of songs. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I can see where someone might be let down if they were expecting alot of new things thrown into the game. I also agree that I think they blew it with the song selection; you'd think that with GH1 being such a hit they would have raised the bar a little and gotten all top-shelf songs for the sequel, but the selection is middling at best (although at least they have some POLICE in the mix!).

I agree with everything you said. I am a huge music fan (600 cds+) but most of these songs are pretty lame and way too long! I think you are right, they tailored it for the hardcore music lover. Hardcore meaning speed metal and the sort. I made it through about 14 songs on the hard level and can't even get close to getting through that section even with practice. I feel like it's an RPG where you have have an idea where to go but don't feel like spending the 20+ hours to get there. I think I'll pass on GH3!

Totally disagree with you. I never got Guitar Hero 1 so this whole experience is new to me. I love most of the songs even though before this game I never heard most before. My wife and I never had this much fun playing against each other in anything. I hope the Guitar Hero's 80's edition isn't a rumor and does come out. I'm also getting guitar hero 3 and Real Band. I didn't know starting up a band could be so cool.

I've got Guitar Hero 1 and 2 for the PS2 along with the 360 version. Having said all that the song selection in Guitar Hero 1 for me was way better. At least with the 360 version you get 10 extra songs that aren't so bad but when you think of being a Guitar Hero god you don't think of speed metal you think of classic rock. ZZ Top, Jimi, Stevie Ray, Boston aka the bands on Guitar Hero 1 not all this other crap they threw in on Guitar Hero 2.
Hopefully, the 80s edition comes out with some good song selections, but I'm not quite so sure I can play 99 Red Balloons, but who knows.

I definitely see the appeal...I just can't get into this game. If not for the possibility of getting the 80's music I think I would have traded it in by now. GH2 is collecting DUST!!!!!!
