The Video Game Critic

Just wondering what everyone's best video game buys are...I know that I've gotten some sweet deals over the years.  Highlights include:

Sealed Zoo Keeper for DS: $2 at Kmart
Sealed Psyconauts for Xbox: $3 at Kmart
Suikoden for PS1, mint and complete: $6 at Savers
Donkey Kong Jr. Game & Watch, mint condition: $2 at a thrift store
DOOM for PS1, complete and mint in longbox: $3 at thrift store
Sega Saturn w/multitap and 4 controllers: $10 at garage sale

About 3 years ago I knew a guy from work who was moving across the country and he was unloading a lot of his personal stuff to his friends and family. I asked him if he had any games he would be willing to sell and he said he would let me get his entire saturn collection for 80 bucks. Seeing as how I had bought a saturn system about 2 months earlier and the only game I had was Nights, I took him up on his offer.

He dropped off a box with 20 saturn games all in mint condition! It contained nearly every game I had wanted to play for the system and even a few japanese only releases. American releases listed here:

-3 shining games (wisdom, holy ark, and Force 3)
-Guardian Heroes
-Legend of oasis
-Dark Savior
-All 3 Panzer Dragoon games
-Darius Gaiden
-Sonic Jam
-Dragon Force
-Brain Dead 13
-Magic night rayearth

That was a great summer for gaming!

I've had a lot of good finds over the years. My best finds were boxed 8-bit computers with all connetors for $2-$5 each including Vic-20, C 64, and ti/994a.

Got a 32X for $2

GAMES, found many rare atari 2600 games including Up N' Down and Marine Wars for $1.00 , and quite a few Genesis and SNES games like Jungle Book , Fire Shark and Raiden for 99 cents each.
Also found games for all my computers under 50 cents.

I think I mentioned I found all my dozen or so Saturn games at a used movie store for $1.99 each, boxed, including XMen: Children of the atom, Darius Gaiden and SF Alpha!

Project Rub (brand new!): $15.00
Metroid Prime Pinball (brand new): $25.00
G-Darius (PS1 -- w/ case and manual): $12.00

My only note worthy haul would be this:

-A Dreamcast console
-8 demo discs
-2 controllers
-a VMU
-a tremor pak
-the following games: Deep Fighter, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Sonic Adventure, Star Wars Episode I Racer, Star Lancer and Toy Commander

...for $30.

My very best buy.  Castlevania Portrait of ruin collector's edition 35 $.    Immediately sold the extra material on Ebay for 50 bucks, so I bought the game for negative 10 dollars basically after ebay fees and taxes.

Quite a haul!


The first post mentioned Kmart. That is my little secret around here. When they want to get rid of a game, man they blow it out: mario Strikers $9, King Kong $7, Battlion Wars $4, Chibi Robo $4

The only problem is it takes the insane woman 30 minutes to show up at her counter at my Kmart. Then she spends 10 minutes telling me that Space Raiders is great (The horrible Space Invaders sequel for the Gamecube). She's like "Look at that! Isn't that crazy? Instead of aliens, you're shooting people. Isn't that crazy? It's really fun." And I'm like "uh-huh, uh-huh, oh reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally? I don't know anything about video games. I'm buying these for my nephews."

FUNK

Never really had a huge steal. I dd get ICO brand new for $9.99CAD when it was selling used over over $20. $14.99 for War Of The Monsters used when it was selling used for $40.

I did get A Genesis, two controllers and sonic 2 for free when my brother saw a woman throwing I out by telling her that he'd take it off her hands.
