Why does Nintendo even offer online?

I think @Home is going to be very popular amongst PS3 owners. But I also think that it isn't a "system mover." I can't really see how that feature is going to move consoles.

I agree with you on Nintendo's online situation. They just need to get on with it. I would also appreciate the elimination of friend codes. Nobody likes them, and they should know that by now.

I'm also a single player type of person, although that is partially due to a change in my circumstances: a few years ago, I would play some kind of multiplayer game (non-online, I'm talking about split screen or LAN party stuff) almost everyday. But those were the college and immediate post college days for me, when I still had lots of friends that didn't have wifes or high costs of living.

Now, though, it is a relative rare event to have friends over, mainly because my day job doesn't really have peers- just middle aged women and really old men. So in other words, there isn't a "posse" that I can get on the phone and arrange a robust multiplayer shootout.

So I see both sides. If I had buddies living in the town I work in, I wouldn't care about online so much... yet because I don't, I also play single player games more and appreciate that experience too!
