Nintendo just updated their placeholder page for Super Smash Brothers Brawl: www.smashbros.com.

The important thing is that the official site confirms a 2007 release (doesn't specify when in 2007).

So we now know that Metroid is coming Aug. 20, and Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. is coming this year for certain.

A great year, indeed.

Nintendo is sure hammering home the 1st party stuff this year.  They can smell blood and they are looking for a kill...

I am eager to find out if Smash Bros will be online or not.  That and Battalion Wars II were supposed to be online and I will be very dissapointed if they aren't.

I would still buy Battalion Wars II, but I wouldn't buy Smash Bros without the online component.  I own Super Smash Bros Melee and NOBODY I knew liked that game.  As a single player game for me...it got boring really fast.  Too bad too because I really liked it.

Maybe the fact that people always want to play the Wii will mean I can find oppenents easier this go around...Not many of my friends were Gamecube fans.  If not its online or bust for this gamer.

So it isn't just me!  This game is considered by many to one of Gamecube's best, but I just don't get it.  It's fast and frantic, but I don't think it's much fun.  Overrated.  Kinda like Metroid Prime.  Did he just say that?  Yes, he did.

Well I personally liked Super Smash Bros, but nobody else I knew did.  As a one player game it wasn't all that great.  Unlocking stuff was fun...but the game was meant to be played with 4 other people...hmmm sounds like a perfect match for the Wii audience.

I will agree with you that Metroid Prime was overrated.  Its really not though...I'm just bitter because they ruin the series for me.  It went from one of my favorites to one I physically couldn't play.  Metroid Prime gave me the worst bouts of motion sickness I have ever experienced in a videogame.

I really wish the game would go to a 3rd person view.  To me Samus should have as much mobility as The Prince from the Prince of Persia games.  The 1st person perspective makes the game more immersive, but I feel like the game could be more exciting in a 3rd person perspective.

Of course they could make a brand new 2D game and I would be happy...so would my stomach.

Yes yes, we knew that Smash Bros. was projected to be a 2007 game. But it is a different matter when the official U.S. Smash Bros. web site says it to be so. So it is significant.

For the life of me, I just can't understand why some people do not like the Smash Bros. franchise. The Critic gave it a ridiculous grade.

Smash Bros. Melee was one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time. And I personally found it to be very addicting as a single player game: not the weird "campaign" mode (or whatever that was) but the challenge mode. It was addicting to try to complete the various challenges.

It is more or less confirmed that Brawl will have online capability. I would agree that without this, the game is significantly less potent. I was in college when Melee was released, and it was easy for me then to organize a four player Smash Bros. marathon. I will need online play for me to do the same now.

I wouldn't say its certain.   Nintendo has been known to delay a game with only months to release (Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario.)   I say its certain when I see it in the stores.

Smash Bros is fun, but it can be disconcerting with 4 people playing at once.

Mess with the settings a little, play 2 player battles with 1 - 3 lives, that can be more fun than the default of 2 minute time limit. I suck at fighters, so my wife can regularily hand my butt to me with Yoshi, so it is an important title for us. Its fun to have a game where she can talk trash in, instead of getting hopelessly beaten and quickly disinterested.

For those of you that don't like Melee, what can Brawl do to change your mind?

P.S., its that time of year again, and I am starting to feed on the hype. Brawl, SMG, and Battalion Wars, which one shall I get? I'll get so hyped up that when I can come back down to earth I'll gripe that the game wasn't quite 'good enough' and didn't live up to expectations. Zelda anyone? Super Paper Mario? Hello?

The list of musicians contributing to that game is crazy!

All these released dates are great, but there are some new IPs that Nintendo has that I really want to hear more about.

Whatever happened to Project Hammer or Disaster: Day of Crisis?  Also, No More Heroes game seems to have fallen off the radar as well.  What gives?  I like getting new versions of my favorite franchises, but I want to know more about these intriguing IPs.

I hope more info becomes available soon, because I have alot of interest in those three games...Specifically Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
