The 360 started off pretty slowly, but by the end of the year 2006 it looked like an unstoppable force.  Since then the system has been really quiet in terms of uber high quality games.  The Wii stole some of its thunder and even the release of a new SKU (The 360 Elite) hasn't garnered all that much attention.  It seems like Microsoft is planning a full frontal assualt from Aug-Dec.

Microsoft has set themselves up for a terrific second half in 07.  We all know about Halo 3.  Yet Microsoft has some excellent looking games up its sleeve like Mass Effect, Too Human, BioShock, Ace Combat 6, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.  Microsoft looks to be a force to be reckoned with come Holiday 07.

What games are you most excited for in Microsoft's second half lineup?

Other than that Obvious Super FPS Game we all know about, I'm really pumped about Mass Effect and Blue Dragon.

I am not all that interested in Halo 3 or Blue Dragon.  I am definitely interested in Mass Effect a lot though.  If it's a KOTOR without the Star Wars theme, it will be good in my book.

I feel like I'm the only person in the universe that likes both Western and JRPGs (-:

My gut feeling is that Halo 3 is going to be like Spiderman 3.  Its going to make the most money, but it will be viewed as the worst in the series.  Hope I'm wrong...

Nope you aren't the only one.  I just like RPGs in general.  Overall I think that the style and art is better in JRPGs...but Western RPGs tend to have the better gameplay.  It really depends on how much you love turn based battles vs real time stuff.

I also feel that the music in JRPG is light years better than what is found in most Western RPGs.

Yeah I think the problem is I don't like video game RPGs in general.  I think I explained once what it was about KOTOR that made the difference for me.  I am just hoping that this carries over into Mass Effect, since it's made by the same company.

I was addicted to D&D as a kid in the early '80s, and I don't think video game RPGs ever translated well into what I thought of as an RPG in those years.  They just never caught on with me.  I did like some of the free-roaming adventures like Adventure, Metroid, and Zelda, but what I liked about those were not the same thing I liked about D&D.

I think if I were to ever get into video game RPGs, it would almost certainly have to be an MMORPG.  D&D was a social thing for me growing up.  I think that's what made the RPGs fun.  It would have to be a social thing for me again for it to take up with me.  And I've avoided that kind of thing like the plague because these days I have too many responsibilities to become addicted to an open-ended video game.

Yeah, you are right on the money about the music. I'm currently working on music for a computer RPG, and I do hope to improve things in that regard.
However, I think the blame lies largely with how the music is implemented, not the music itself. Western RPGs tend to take a "music as wallpaper" approach.
