The question of the day....
To buy a PS3 or not....
I can't believe i'm actually considering this....
My love for the Wii might be wearing off a little. I own the wii, component cables, 10 games. I dove head first into the Wii party on day 1.... now I feel somewhat less of a gamer. Weird.
I'm not blind, I see the situation Sony has put themselves into. For some reason though, I just want to go for the Underdog....( can you tell i'm a Sega fan?)
It IS a blueray player..
Help.

Not that it's a bad thing if you get a PS3, but a more expensive "therapy" would be an Xbox 360. 90% of the games you would see on the PS3 with equal graphics, plus the best online system to date.

If you really want a Bluray player, you can't go wrong with the PS3. It's the cheapest Bluray player I could find. And since the last online update, it even upscales DVDs like other Bluray players do. It's definitely great in that regard.
Oh, and since that last update it will also upscale and smooth your PS1 and PS2 games. Some of them look really good now in HD with those options turned on, but I'd turn upscaling off for some PS1 games. Upscaling doesn't hurt most of them, but some of them have some slow-down. Silent Hill for instance has a pause every second or so during sound-intensive moments. Still, it works great for most games, and the smoothing doesn't seem to cause any problems at all.

I would never consider it unless I could get it for $400.

It's not really the price that concerns me, I've got a ton of games which I don't play anymore. A local game store here will give you a 60 GB PS3. Resistance and Motor Storm for $140 dollars after trade ins.

I also own a Wii and I understand what you are saying about not having some games to really sink your teeth into. The party games are a blast and I still play them, but the stuff like Sonic, Zelda and Super Paper Mario are few and far between. Plus sometimes you just want to sit back and relax when you play a game. I don't always want to waggle and point at things while playing a game.
If you really don't want to play those games anymore and you can get the Playstation 3 for that price ($149) I wouldn't hesistate.
However, if you don't feel like selling your games and the system costs $599, I would personally wait. There are tons more games coming out in the Fall and it will look like a more solid investment then.
Yet its hard to argue not getting it for that low price point. Plus Resistance and MotorStorm are arguably the two best games on the system.
I really like my PS3, but I'm not gonna lie, I didn't play it for a long time until I recently picked up MLB 07 The Show. There shouldn't be that many dry spells in the future and even the summer will probably bring some must have titles.
Its a tough call, but even if you buy it now there will be plenty of games to make you happy by years end. It might take a while for you to really enjoy it, but I don't think you regret purchasing it.

Sell your games on ebay instead, you'll get at least twice what you'd get off the PS3, and you can decide for yourself what you'd like to spend the money on (like a 360, for instance). Trade ins are nothing but scams.

I wouldn't be trading in My Wii. Probably 15-12 PS1 Games, 20 PS2 Games, 2-3 Wii games, 1-2 DS games, The PS2 Console and my PS1 console.
Sounds like a lot eh? I don't touch most of the stuff i'm trading in ever though.
I really like the Wii and will continue to play/purchase games for it, I just need something more right now. I can't quite explain what it is.

Yes, but I wouldn't buy anything based on that. HD-DVD players are about to hit the $100-$200 mark, and Blu-Ray is still a minimum of about $600. I would wait till the format war has a clear winner before you get into something because of the format it is pushing. Especially when the competition's player is about a third the price... which equals fewer tears if it fails.
