Anybody heard anything about the new Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End video games?

I saw the movie yesterday, and I thought it sucked. Too many storylines happening - I had no idea what was going on. Plus it was long and boring.

So it was exactly like the second one then? Now that was a terrible movie. And after the first one, it was a huge disappointment. Jack Sparrow went from Pirate Ninja to frightened dandy somehow between the two movies.

Take it from me, as I study film about as much as games; At World's End is far better than Dead Man's Chest. It may not be quite as good as the first, and the multiple storylines are convoluted at times, but the film more than makes up for it by some amazing action scenes, a wonderfully bizzare scene with multiple Jacks in Davy Jones' Locker and those rock/crab things (if Luis Bunel made a Pirates film, it might be like this) and some pretty good pacing; even though this film was longer than Dead Man's Chest, I didn't mind because it didn't drag nearly as much.

Now in regards to the games, I heard disappointing things about them, surprising since they were made by Eurocom, a usually talented studio. It sure looks nice, but I was personally disappointed that none of the movie actors are here. Considering this was published by Disney, the company behind the films themselves, that's inexcusable. Even so, I'll probably give the 360 version a look soon, just to be fair. Who knows? I might enjoy it more than the press (like Spider-Man 3).

The 2nd movie was a pretty big letdown. At least if I go see the final, I won't have my hopes up too high, everyone is panning it. I haven't played any Pirates games, I generally avoid liscensed games altogether, unless I here really good things about them, and so far I haven't. (Wii version).

The "final" iteration (I say that in quotes because Johnny Depp is still reportedly on board for more and if they keep making money I'm sure they'll keep pumping them out) was far better than the second. Don't go in with really high expectations and you'll have a good time. As far as convoluted story lines, you should be able to follow it if you remember the second. What really puts this one over the edge is the fact that it actually has a conclusion; something the second lacked.

I finally got around to seeing POTC2: Dead Mans Chest last Sunday night, and followed it up with going out to see POTC3: At Worlds End the very next afternoon figuring that the second one would be fresh in my mind. I was less than blown away by the second film, and thoroughly confused by the third. I no longer have ANY idea who has a true allegiance to whom and why. And what is the point of having Chow Yun-Fat in your movie if you're NOT going to show him in cool hand-to-hand combat? The movie opened with a HUGE close quarters fight sequence, and showed everyone fighting it seemed BUT him! It's also a prime example of a movie that should have ended about 30-45 minutes sooner than it did. When I'm sitting there thinking "Ok, enough already, time to get on with our lives!" you know a movie is too long. I won't even get in to the complete suspension of basic physics that seemed to get worse with each movie so that by the third, why not just have people flying of their own accord?

I don't get why nobody likes the 2nd movie. I thought it was great! Not as good as the first one, but was still great to see (That threeway swordfight in the wheel was awsome). Anyway, although I did like At World's End, it just got really confusing. It's not like the first one where you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. You have to listen to every single thing they say if you want to follow the plot, and I don't think that's what a Pirate movie should be like.
Plus the scene after the credits was kind of cheesy.

I suppose it was the unnecessary and time consuming love triangle, the fact that Jack Sparrow went from being a ninja to being Simon Belmont from Captain N, the 17 seperate storylines, the fact that no character's actions make any sense, and the fact that the ending wasn't even fulfilling as far as "to be continued" endings go. Outside of that it was fine other than the complete lack of chemistry between Jack Sparrow and whatshername, Davy Jone's lisp, and the rushed and unnecessary relationship between Orlando Bloom and his father.

I mean, I don't mind mindless action movies at all; in fact, my DVD collection shows that I prefer them. That's why I loved the first movie and hated the second. The second movie was so convoluted it was impossible to just like it as an action movie. With just one storyline and a couple more swordfights, it'd have been awesome.

While I agree that having Chow Yun-Fat engage in some martial arts would be a great idea, it should be noted that he isn't actually a martial artist at all. He actually has stuntmen and body doubles perform his stunts (though I'm sure he does some of his own fight choreography, to the extent that someone with no martial arts training can do). He's a classicaly trained actor, which is why he can be in so many different movies and perform so well in them.
