I know another reader already said this, but MLB 07 The Show (PS3) absolutely kicks ass. Simple controls, great graphics, fine audio - this thing is practically flawless. I still need to play it with some friends, but I'm seriously impressed so far.
If there's one flaw, it lies with the fast mode. Although I prefer to turn this on, it not only bypasses the boring stuff (pauses between pitches, replays), but the good stuff as well (players goofing around in the dugout, batters charging the mound, homerun trots). I wish it wasn't an "all or nothing" type option.
Stay tuned for a full review - probably next week.

Glad you are enjoying The Show Critic. I figured you would like since you rated the PS2 game pretty high.
The fast mode that you speak of is certainly a godsend (games can be played in about 15-20 min) and I agree with your complaint.
If it wasn't for this great game my PS3 would be collecting dust. I don't see that happening anytime soon since I play, at the very least, a couple games per day. I look forward to your review.

I guess I just don't get this game. A friend and I played the PS2 version for a few hours and never got the hang of pitching. Batting was a lot of fun, fielding was okay, but the pitching was the worst I've seen in a baseball game in years. Never did get my pitches to go where I wanted with any consistency.
Our favorite is still MVP 05. We unlocked all the hidden legends players and put them on the Cubs. Actually we put the best players on the Cubs, the next-best players on the AAA team, etc. and then we started a season. Yeah, most games are big blowouts but it's still great fun.

I played mvp 04 seasons like crazy. Though I always simmed the seasons, played every playoff game when simming let me down. To show how many seasons i played, made a create a player ric flair age 18 and he retired at 45 with me then playing an additional 8 seasons afterwards. I scrapped this career mode for the simple reason that at 2025 or so, it was exclusively made up players. That's no fun! People complain and want 50 year franchise modes and complain to no end when there's no franchise mode. Personally I don't need player progression or franchise mode. One season is fine and the gameplay should overcome any feature shortcomings. Baseball Stars is still the king! On the subject of this post, not impressed with mlb the show 07. Sorry critic.
