It looked very fun in the commercial.

Have never played any Mario Party, read a reveiew and they knocked it down for GC quality graphic and lack of widescreen support. I know, I fell off of my chair too.
So if anyone has any impressions of this game, please share. I have avoided the onslot of minigame games for Wii thus far, (unless you count Wii Play), but maybe this is my game.

I can only tell you what I read in the reviews, and it wasn't good. Both reviews I read knocked it for the gameplay more than for the graphics. The ign review said some of the mini games felt like they were developed for the Gamecube and then Wii controls were added on (probably true given the quality of the franchise).
Personally, I thought the first 2 were decent fun and then anything after them sucked. I was optimistic about this version, since Wii controls seem perfectly suited for the series, but it sounds like more of the same. If you liked recent iterations I'm guessing you'd like Mario Party 8, but if you're not already a fan of the series I'd go with something else.

I'm pretty sure I'll love it. I have one Mario Party for the N64 (Mario Party 2) and one for the Gamecube(Mario Party 7). I'm not into buying the same game year after year, but one for each machine keeps me and my fiancee occupied well. I can't imagine caring too much if the Wii controls feel a little tacked on, as at least those tacked on controls is a noticeable change from the other 2 we have.

Most of the criticism against the Parties is that they are all essentially the same. Personally, I enjoyed the first one (which means theroritically I enjoyed them all.)

I have never had an interest in Mario Party before, but I might get this version. It is a series that never gets good reviews and people swear by it.
If you have 3 or 4 people to play with I'm sure its great fun. Hell the mini games in Sonic and The Secret Rings are money and those were probably tacked on.
I will say that if you haven't purchased Rayman Raving Rabbids or WarioWare you might want to consider getting them instead. The only problem with those two titles is that you need to beat the single player mode to unlock everything in multiplayer (it takes all of 3 hours). Still they are party favorites in my neck of the woods.

You can probably pick up one of it's prequels for a fraction of the price, and the all play EXACTLY the same. Probably the best idea if you're intending to test out the series.

Geez, a few of you guys are being pretty hasty with your judgement of this game. You're already stating it's "just like the rest" without even having play it. I believe the Wii system is unique enough to inject new like into the Mario Party series. Let's hear from some people who have actually played the thing.

I bought it on Saturday and played it with my girlfriend and roommate. We all had a pretty damn good time.
I think the mini games were all a lot of fun; the controls didn't seemed slapped together like some other titles. Also there were many "AWW!" and "YES!" blurted out.
At first glance, it's in B territory. It didn't knock my socks off, but it was pretty darn fun to play.

The RPG critic brought this over the other night and I thought it was a lot of fun. Yeah, you have a lot of verbose dialogue and some questionable rules (it's far too easy to take shortcuts). But the graphics look great and the mini-games are a nice combination of classic action (turn the controller) and Wario Ware-style games.

how can a game on the 8th itineration be any fun? Aren't you Wii owners sick of mini-games yet?
