Do you buy imported games?

Postby Blah » June 4th, 2007, 10:30 pm

I'm just wondering if anyone in the forum buys imported games. I know that a lot of consoles are region-locked, but the DS isn't, and I'm sure that there are others. Personally, I've imported two games from Japan, Ouendan and its sequel (Ouendan is basically the Japanese Elite Beat Agents).

I do.  I imported my first DS Lite (enamel navy blue), and Ouendan and its sequels.  I've posted some videos of the insane mode of the first one and am on that stage for the sequel now.

I am intersted in the early Famicon Games that became the Advance Wars series. But Japan NES games do not work on U.S. and the new generic NES consoles, am I right?

I have a Yo-Ho of Yobo console  or something, I would look but I borrowed it to my brother in law.

I do, particularly for Sega consoles, as it is very easy to get around the region locking on them. I have plenty of import games, from both Japan and America.

Game soundtracks? Yes.

The games themselves?  No.

I've purchased imported games for the Neo Geo (region free), Saturn, Genesis, and Dreamcast.  Recently I picked up New Hope for the Dreamcast, which I will be reviewing soon.

Yeah, I second that. There are some awesome game soundtracks that you can only get via import. I've recently been digging "Phoenix Wright Meets Jazz" and "Phoenix Wright Meets Orchestra." They are terrific albums (on their own terms, even if you don't know the original music) and available on www.vgmworld.com.
