Critic - Imports on the Dreamcast?

Hey Critic-

I noticed that you have reviewed a number of Japanese imports for the Dreamcast, including a few of the shmups just recently released. I was wondering what you method of choice was for playing imports on your Dreamcast (Assuming you don't own a Japanese model). Do you use a boot disk or have you gone as far as to mod the hardware? I'm wary of the latter because I don't want to ruin my console. Any suggestions from you (or anyone else) would be appreciated!

I have a modified Dreamcast with the international chip.  I also have DC-X disk (not very reliable) and a Gameshark which I think works pretty well (need to verify that).

DC-X works everytime.  It's the most reliable boot disc available.  Utopia is a free download but not so good.

I'd like to get a modded Dreamcast for the sole reason of playing Under Defeat.

Get DC-X, works great for everything.

I ordered it, found more positive feedback than negative concerning its performance, though VGC's experience worries me a bit. I basically just want it so that I can play Ikaruga and the "new" japanese shooters.
