I just read a pre-E3 list of games that are determined to be shown by different developers and while a few third parties have Wii exclusives, the number of exclusives for the 360 and PS3 far outnumbers it! I'm wondering, why?! I know that the Wii isn't as graphically capable as the other two but you'd figure with the phenomenal sales of the Wii, not to mention the lower development costs of the games, that the Wii would be a shoe-in for a killer E3! What is it going to take for third parties to devote a little more time and energy to it?! I'm sorry, but one exclusive for every five PS3/360 exclusives is not devotion!

Well several 3rd party publishers have voiced a complaint that people only buy 1st party titles on Nintendo systems.
While its not entirely true...its just that the 1st party stuff is head and shoulders above 3rd party efforts. I think Miyamoto called out 3rd party developers about lazy ports and sub-par efforts. He is right...if they made more quality games people would buy them.
Right now there are some great 3rd party games, but most of the best games are still coming straight from Nintendo.

It's going to take a year for most 3rd parties to adjust their stratagies for Wii. It's hard to remember now, but most people thought Nintendo was insane for going in the direction they did- I remember having an argument with this pompous dude a few weeks before E3 2006, who argued that Nintendo was going to lose huge market share simply as a result of naming the system "Wii."
The comments from the industry was basically, "Interesting.... but we'll wait and see."
The waiting is over, but most developers lost a year of serious dev time. The few that were actually smart enough to put some original IP on Wii benefited big time, contrary to the popular belief that 3rd parties don't do well on Wii. Red Steel is a million seller now (and will no doubt see sequels), and I think Rayman might be as well. This despite Red Steel getting unfairly trashed by most review outlets.
You will see, over time, that developers that bother to make original games for Wii will be rewarded.

The ign mailbag had something about this the other week. Apparently, it's just the way Nintendo does things at E3; it's not a lack of third party support. The ign guy said Nintendo likes having their section be huge, and the third party Wii games will likely be shown in the Nintendo area.
