Critic, do you really pay $400-on up for those original
carts or do you get the cheaper MVS versions that go
for $50 or so? If the first, I would not want to see
your credit card bills!!!

I don't think I've ever paid more than $70 for a Neo Geo cartridge.  The CDs usually run $20-$30, but I did pay $99 for Pulstar on CD.

Isnt the Neo Geo the rarest console of all time?

Tanman: Neo Geo is most certainly not rare (systems
like CREATIVISION, NUON, MPX would fit that catagory)
It's simply that the system and games are so darned
expensive. I've not seen a neo for less than $400, and
ORIGINAL packaged games like metal slug go for over
$1,000 on Ebay. Fortunately, you can buy the coin-op
MVS "blank" carts (which are really the same games)
for $50 or less.

The Neo Geo is the only system that can call itself a
REAL arcade machine, as I pointed out, the home and arcade
carts for the neo stand up are identical. That kind of
power costs much moola.

I would say Neo Geo is relatively rare, if only because they never sold enough to justify producing large quantities.  But this rarity is offset by the fact that they are not locked by region.  For example, I have a Japanese Neo Geo (modded).  Of course, the fact that they are prized by collectors also plays a part in their huge price tag.

I need to get that Neo Geo system review page done!

systems arent very rare, i found one for 80 bucks.  the problem is that (at least for carts) most people want to charge at least 50 bucks for mediocre sports games.
