Does anyone here use his Wii as a computer? It is a bit slow, but it's pretty cool being able to use your TV as the monitor. Plus, I like being able to browse through the news and weather without having to sit through commercials.

Anyone know if they're going to release more updates for the Wii browser to help optimize it?

I have found the Wii's browser to be pretty hopeless to be honest, I certainly would not have bothered were it not free. It is slow, provides a poor quality picture and typing anything is an utter nightmare.

I personally like the Wii browser for watching Youtube videos, and for playing flash games.  For those two functions, it's nice to use the Wiimote as a mouse to play the games, and seeing the videos on the big screen is very nice too.

I would have no reason to do that.   I have a 61 inch HDTV and I have my computer hooked up to it.  I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so I can sit on the couch while on the computer.

When I had it working, I loved it for Youtube.  That's the way to youtube man, as the images are so low res on there that they only look any good on my Standard def. TV.

The news feature alone makes the Wii an absolute blast.  The user interface for it is exceedingly cool.

I have a 58 inch, and my computer is also hooked to it.  I still prefer to do it with the Wii.

I definitely don't use the Wii as a computer, but I like using the Wii browser for Youtube and flash games.

I'm surprised people are able to watch videos.  Mine still tells me I don't have the correct plugin, and I can't seem to find one for it.  I think it makes a great browser, mostly if you are doing things that won't require alot of typing, like reading articles or browsing forums.  Typing is not too bad with the word recognition, either.

Some video streaming sites don't work. MLB.com, Gametrailers.com, and the like don't seem to work. YouTube does work fine, however.

I don't really use my Wii for that much web browsing, but I use it occasionally to view YouTube videos on my TV, and it's useful when I think of something I want to research when I'm playing a game or otherwise. It's not my primary browser, that's for sure, but it is fun to mess around with, even if some sites don't work right. I would like some updates for it to make it more optimized, but it's not a big deal, really.

And the news channel is pretty handy and convenient, I'll agree to that.
