Just a sort of poll, if you folks don't mind:

I was wondering what your least favorite console is and why.  I have two in mind, which I will reveal later so as not to prejudice anyone else, and what is interesting is that I dislike both of them for the same reason.

So, what do you personally dislike, and why?

That would have to be the Philips CD-i.  Not only are most of its games horrible, but many try to take an educational slant that's just irritating.

From the consoles The VGC covers, I agree, the CD-i is the worst for gaming, followed by the Virtual Boy (unless your fond of spontaneuos epyleptic-type spasms after playing your games).

You guys are gonna be mad, but definitely Saturn. Before angrily posting, keep in mind I have played no Atari consoles (nor anything pre-NES), and have never tried CD-i.

Anyone who dislikes ATARI (or SATURN for that matter) Is a blashphamer and should be burned at the stake (a hot stake is better than a cold chop!)

You don't cover the WORST systems, VGC, the very worse would be the RCA STUDIO II console. Channel F looks godly compared to this thing and the RCA came out AFTER Channel F, and sold for $150 at first! It has NO detachable controls(just 2 on-board keypads), blip-bleep sounds and the graphics are black and white(Channel F is color) and AWFUL-a spaceship is three blocks, a ball player 5 blocks, a car is a blocky "O" ! Even back then no one wanted it, it could not even play PONG well(the ball often bounced off the screen or through the paddles!)...no wonder this lovely system was blown out at Radio Shack for $39.95 2 years later. I often wish I could find who made this thing and ask "My God, WHY?!!"

Well there are a lot of inconsequential consoles I can cheat and mention, but if we are going for major consoles I am not very fond of the original Playstation (which is odd as I love the PS2). Don't get me wrong it has some great games, but overall the machine just seems to be lacking something (probably decent 2D games). I much prefer the Saturn.

Gamecube.

Hate the controller. Hate the library of games. Hate how stupid it looks.

N64: While a sentimental favorite (got it for Xmas in '97), it's still mostly crap.  Outside of a few classics, most of the software was barely better than the PS1 version, and a lot of titles were released later and more complete on the DC/PS2/GC/Xbox.  The controller is hard on the hands, and prevented certain genres from getting on the platform.  And I know it's been said to death, but cartridges were RETARDED for a console of that power.  A lot of games were actually crappier on the N64 than the PS1 because the developer had to cut a bunch of content/music out to fit the cartridge format (RE2, MKT, etc.)  Sure, Mario and OoT are great, but this system is definately the low point of Nintendo's history (even counting the Virtual Boy).

32x: What a piece of crap.  Barely any games, and the only good ones have been rendered obsolete by now.  Plus, the amount of cords/adapters when you have a Genesis, Sega CD, and 32x is just appalling.  I have one for collecting purposes, but DAMN, what was Sega thinking?

NES: Yeah, it's a classic, but I'm still not too fond of it.  Cartridges are hard to clean, the system more fragile than the Turbo Duo (and that's saying a LOT), and most of the games and genres were done better on later consoles.  When I play the games, it just seems like they were trying to shove 16-bit generation gameplay into an 8-bit machine.  Plus, the controllers SUCK unless you have a dogbone.  All of the best games have been officially emulated in one form or another, so owning the actual system is kind of a moot point unless you're a collector.

Gizmondo.  Yes, it's a handheld, but it's still crap.
