PS2: Weak!!!

I agree with Atarifever on the library of games thing. It all depends on what you yourself are into. Obviously the PS2 had the largest library, but I persoanly believe their are ussualy 20 odd games that are really good for any system, a handful more that are worth playing, and to me the rest is just so much junk. Its just the way the thing works.

Whats the difference beteen a system that has a 2000 game library and one with 500, when there are only a few you will really, really enjoy anyway? I buy consoles for exclusives, I would not be surprised if GC did not end up with more high-quality exlusives than PS2 just on virtue of 1st party games, it would be interesting to see a head to head list. But again, if you did not like Nintendo games, why buy a GC?

1. Pikmin 2
2. Pikmin 1
3. Mariokart DD
4. Paper Marior 1000yeardoor
5. Zelda WW
6. Zelda TP
7. Animal Crossing
8. Super Mario Sunshine
9. Super Smash Bros Meelee
10. Battalion Wars (Kuju subout can't wait for the sequel)
11. Zelda 4 Swords (would have been more fun if I knew people who had GBA's!)
12. Luigi's Mansion (underrated)
13. Super Mario Strikers
14. DK Jungle Beat (Very good game)
15. The Mario Party Compilation, versions 5 - 13.   (Never actually played)
16. Metroid Prime
17. Metroid Prime 2

That's the cream of the crop to me, except for Mario Party which I threw in for fun. I'm sure I have forgotten a couple, but this is why I enjoyed my GC so much! Also why I don't think Nintendo having weaker 3rd party support is that big of deal. You can never play it all anyway, but some people here give it their best shot!

I have owned a ps2 since launch and I am still on my first memory card.  I dont play sports games though.

I'm with JLH on this one. Who cares that the PS2 didn't have the graphical-capacity of the Gamecube or Xbox? It's library easily made it the best system of the last generation. The only hardware complaints I have are that they're pieces of junk (as I've stated numerous times), and it didn't have 4 controller slots (I am NOT going to buy a multitap).

Thats an admirable list...I really do enjoy the gamecube, but its library cannot hold a candle to the PS2.  Hell, I'll go out on a limb and say the PS2 had better games than the xbox and gamecube combined!

The library is the single reason why the console ruled last generation.  Also graphically the PS2 just about matched the gamecube and xbox.  Games like God of War and Final Fantasy XII really pushed the system to its limits.

Also the reason why it ruled last gen...because its not dead.  Instead its thriving.  With all the new consoles out the PS2 still remains a top seller.  Killer games are still coming out at a great clip, and there is no end in sight.  I think I've bought more PS2 games than anything else this year...

By the way, I've owned my PS2 for about 5 years now and have never had a single problem with it.

The only time that I ever THOUGHT about possibly getting a Gamecube... was when Ikaruga was released. That was the only time. Because the Gamecube sucks!
