bought this yesterday and while not the greatest baseball game its a pretty solid wii game, as with any wii game the controls take time to get used to but after awhile it comes naturally. i'd say if you like the fast arcade like baseball games you can't go wrong-just be prepared to get a little frustrated for the first couple innings!!!

How does the fielding work. I'm asking because Wii Sports had none in its baseball minigame

The early reviews have complained about lagging swing controls. Have you experienced this?

Yes, can you please expand a littbe more please?  I am very interested in this titles and I pretty much find reviews of Wii games to be almost useless.  I would much rather hear what a person that owns the game thinks.

Is it more of a rental or do you think its worthy of a purchase?  I'm a BIG baseball nut and I'm dying to play a good baseball game on the Wii.  Basically I'm curious how well the swing mechanic works.  Feilong mention the "swing lag" that some reviews touched upon...does this have impact on the gameplay?

Ok, i'll try to explain this as best i can, the fielding is pretty simple, you use the analog on the nunchuck to move, and shake the wiimote to make the fielder run fast, to throw to first flick the wiimote to the right, second flick it up toward you, third flick it to the left, and home flick it down.
Pitching is pretty simple too, not sure i'll get these right but you'll get the general idea, push A and flick your wrist down for a fast ball, push A and flick down and twist left or right for other pitches, the B button gives you other options as well, the trick is to flick down fast and let off the button when your on screen meter is in the green, that gives you your best pitches, and best chances of striking someone out.
As for the batting i haven't really noticed the lag, it seems as good as the batting on wii sports to me, just with the option of hitting A for the power swing, and using the analog stick to help control where your swings located (down and away, down and in etc..) Its really all about timing, it took me a minute to get the hang of it but it also took a minute to get the swinging down on wii sports, Like i stated earlier i think its a solid baseball game and me and my friends have a blast playing it.

Fascinating. I'll have to rent it myself to see, but it looks like once again the professional reviewers cry out "BROKEN CONTROLS" and are proven to be essentially lying to the public.

Thanks for giving us some detail on the game.

I feel the same way about reviews of Wii games. You never know if the person reviewing it just isn't coordinated enough to play it, or if they're a "hardcore" gamer and just doesn't like a Wii game because of the graphics. I find it's best to just see what people here think. Thanks to this site I went and rented Kororinpa: Marble Mania, and it was a blast. I would have completely overlooked that game if I just based my decision off of the professional reviews.

Sounds like a fun party game. I might have to consider getting this.

Just saw the commercial, looks good. If the price is right it should find a home on my PS2.

Currently, I reviewing The Bigs on several platforms.  What do you guys think about the Wii version??  I can't quite get a hang of the controls.  In particular, throwing to bases is really problematic.  I'm starting to wonder if this is a case of "grafting" motion controls onto a game after the fact, and having it feel less than natural.

By the way, on the PS3 and PSP, this game is amazing.  The glowing reviews will be forthcoming.
