Geometry Wars Wii Looks Promising

Postby feilong801 » June 29th, 2007, 11:39 pm

Have any of you guys read about Geometry Wars Wii on IGN yet?

Looks pretty promising: 60 levels, many which somehow tip their hat to games like River Raid and Asteroids(!), off line co-op, online leaderboards, and IR and classic controller mode. And a little bonus: You can use your Wii to download the original Xbox Live game to your DS (though there is a more robust DS version of the game coming).

GW was okay on 360.  I found it a bit hard but I never was that great at Asteroids in the arcades, preferred Space Duel.  Yep I am that old to have played them when they first game out!
I wonder if they are going to put out Project Gotham Racing with those photo realistic graphics on the Wii or the DS.  After the need for speed underground on the DS i hope not.  Also I saw need for speed carbon on wii and was amazed at how much better the 360 looked. Though I am not able to tilt the controller and move my own screen car.  Perhaps I should get a steering wheel but then I remember when I had one for my ps.  It felt so cool to be playing v rally with it but I always came in last.
Perhaps I should play cooking mama... no I will just go and make the breakfast!

Yes, Geometry Wars does look promising until it comes out and suddenly this game that was a $6.00 download on Live Arcade is now a $50 game at your local Wal Mart!

Rob,
Geo wars is basically space duel updated.  The makers of GW are the makers of PGR.  So I wondered if they were going to translate that title as well.  Then I had a wee rant about the Wii's control system.  After which I thought I have a dig at Need for speed Carbon.  Just generally having pop at Wii in a sort of commodore versus Atari way....

Except that the game is going to have 60 unique levels (as opposed to the $6 game which had one) co-op play, and other features, plus the ability to download the original game on your DS from the Wii.

It had still better not be $50. That is a joke, no joke.

Yeah, I'll have no problem plopping 50 bucks down for this game. I can't wait for it to come out. I've never played the original, but it looks like the kind of game that would be right up my alley. I think it's great that you'll have the option to use the classic controller.
