So what if it is simulated. If it works, that's what matters. It is a ridiculous, silly thing to hang one's hat on in terms of knocking the Wii.

2. Yeah, Ninja Gaiden Sigma was awesome... when it was Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox, which was also great... when it was the original Xbox Ninja Gaiden. Sorry if I'm not getting too terribly excited about that title. And unlike Resident Evil 4 Wii, Sigma isn't $30.... you are paying full price for a re-release that doesn't even have as many extra features as RE4 does. Ummmm..... I think that's p0wnage....
I'm sorry but Ninja Gaiden has totally redrawn graphics and an added character never seen before and whole new bosses as well as weapons and combos. Resident Evil 4 is an exact duplicate of the Resident Evil from the PS2. In essence the only new thing is the Wii controls which is nice but as far as content goes Sigma blows away and makes RE4 get p0wnage. Now there is a huge price difference which makes purchasing both games a necessity but as far as content goes theres only one game that totally owns and that's Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

Well, that's all a matter of taste then, isn't it? Besides, the whole point there was that (and hopefully we can agree on this) is that an updated Xbox game is certainly not the thing to make your "PS3's games are better than Wii" argument on.

Again, the keyword here is "simulated." What Dolby Pro Logic II does is quite similar to true 5.1 although it is not the same thing. It simulates 5.1 without actually being 5.1. But believe it or not there is a big, big difference.
By the way, how the hell can Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby Digital be THE EXACT SAME THING (as you said) if there are analog connections being used? That's makes no sense to me. You can't go from Digital to Analog and then back to Digital again without degregation of audio. But that could be a WHOLE other debate.
Ok, well now you have changed your argument a bit. Before, you were saying that there was only 2 channels of audio being heard through all the speakers. Now you are saying "There may be 5 channels of audio being heard..." At least we got that far.
Actually, there is NOT a big, big difference. It simulates it so well that the difference is indistinguishable. All the sound from the original 5.1 channel recording is still there, it is just being handled in a different way. I have done A-B tests with people and never had a person consistently tell which is which.
The sound from Dolby Digital is converted into analog in the AV receiver, the digital from PLII (it is still digital quality audio on the disk), is converted in the console. It does not go from digital to analog to digital to analog, it goes from digital to analog, just like Dolby Digital does, but it passes through your AV receiver, instead of being processed and decoded by it. You might be able to measure the difference between the two, but it would just depend on who manufactured the D/A converters in you AV receiver. And that would be simply a different sonic fingerprint, not better sound.

Well, let's see here..
You mentioned Excitetruck. Motorstorm easily blows that right out of the water. And as far as the control goes.. all you really need is an arcade-type steering wheel.
Then you mentioned Actraiser. How about Ninja Gaiden Sigma or Tenchu Z?
Miltary Madness I'm not familiar with, but I'm guessing Resistance or Gears Of War would do the trick and keep you busy for awhile.
And Paper Mario? Hmm.. I dunno, the new Sonic?
That's from the critic's review. I trust his opinion more than yours.
As for Sonic comparing to Paper Mario: all I can do is laugh. Not only is the Sonic for PS3 and 360 (one of the lowest reviewed games of the year) in nowhere near the same league as Paper Mario (very well reviewed), it doesn't even compare to the Sonic on the Wii!
As if those comparisons weren't enough. You go on to compare classic 2d games to modern 3d shooters. Pathetic.

I'll finish the discussion with feilong's post, because it is what matters. If Luke is gonna try to say that his ears are so golden that he can hear the difference between one signal that is decoded at point 'a' and another decoded at point 'b', then he is too busy listening to advertisers who push expensive audio cables. He keeps changing his argument according to what I teach him anyways.

Agreed. I don't think either of these games would be good for that kind of argument. Original games that are exclusive to that console would be good for that kind of argument.

Not exactly a Bose wave radio, that.

At least its there. It sounds way better than the speakers in the controllers for the 360 and PS3. Maybe they should have made the remote big enough for a 1" dome tweeter and a 6" woofer, but... and call me crazy... I would have some trouble with that.

Oh I'm just teasing. Plus I am all for recycling, what else could they have done with all those surplus Game Boy speakers?

I actually don't have a real opinion on that since I don't own a Wii and use the controller frequently. But I'm thinking that the decision to put a speaker in there at all was most likely a good one.
Historically, system controllers have generally been fairly boring. So any addition to one - be it a rumble feature, video screen, speaker, or whatever - is definitely going to be of some benefit. Even if it kinda sucks and doesn't work great. Like the rumble feature on the PS2 for example. I dunno if many of you experienced this.. but a lot of time when I had this feature on during a game, many times when the rumble action took place on my controller the game would often pause. And this would be really annoying if you're playing a racing game or something where there's a lot of on-screen bumping and whatnot causing rumble. I'd be trying to play the game and it would pause every 5 seconds! So of course I'd just have to turn the darned thing off cause it was rendered useless.
Stupid Sony.
