DMC style games on the Wii?

Postby JasonhasRSI1 » July 3rd, 2007, 1:53 pm

I posted this question a while back in a thread but didn't get much of a response.

So we know by now that the Wii will and handle third/first person shooting games quite well with what amounts to a control setup that rivals the best keyboard/mouse combination.

I'm wondering how well the Wii will handle action games with extremely deep and skill-based combat systems such as Devil May Cry 3. Pulling off fancy moves, combos, and manuevers (such as jump-canceling) in games like this require precise button timing, weapon-switching, and more complex button combinations. How will these controls translate to the Wii's control scheme? I don't have one, so I have a hard time picturing how I would hammer away at enemies with dual handguns before slicing in with a quick sword thrust and launch, followed by a mid-air juggle, etc.

PS - I realize DMC isn't coming out for the Wii, but I guess my main question is will  (or could) any game of this sort ever come out for the system?

DMC style games on the Wii?

I think it could. Remember, drawing shapes with the Wii remote and nunchuck have essentially replaced button combos in games like SSX Blur and Mortal Kombat Armageddon. And the nunchuck has two buttons, and the remote has four buttons, not counting the small start and select (+ and -) buttons.

It has already been proven, I think, that button combinations can effectively be replaced with some form of motion control.

Well, I'm not sure I could play Devil May Cry 3 with motion controls, but at least the developers could include the classic controller as an alternative.
